Boretech C4 ?

About 30 minutes... which is essentially the time it takes me to drive home from the range...

How long do you leave Boretech eliminator and Boretech C4 in your barrel ?
24 hours or more. Read step 5 on the directions. However that said, I wouldn't leave Cu+2 in a steel barrel that long. Although both claim to have a rust inhibitor and are safe for short term storage.

I use the C4 and do 10 mins in between each patch. For me, does not take that many patches to clear carbon but then I will begin to see some blue tinge from the copper. That's when I go to the WipeOut bore foam. This is what works for me.

I believe the directions say 10 minutes.

C-4 works well at removing a carbon ring at the end of the chamber. Just push a wet patch through your bore guide and let it sit at the end of the chamber for 10 minutes. Then carbon comes out easily with a bronze brush.

I often leave Eliminator/Cu in the barrel overnight.

The directions are interesting, but I find that leaving it in the barrel longer and not as much patching is more effective - assuming you have the time to let it sit.

Typically I'll have 80-90 shots through the barrel before cleaning. As the barrels age a bit, there can be a fair amount of copper. Even after 5-6 patches with several minutes between, there can be a fair amount come out when the patch is left overnight.

Essentially, the same with carbon. I.e., even after getting out the carbon with just a few marks on a patch, letting it sit for an extended time [i.e., more than 10 minutes] often brings out significantly more.

I would think that the people who make C4 know what their talking about so I follow their instructions for "dwell" time, i.e. 10 minutes.

I believe an important consideration is using a loose fitting patch as the final pass before starting the dwell time so you leave as much C4 as possible in the bore so it can do it's job. For that purpose, a plastic eye loop jag such as the one Hoppe's makes works great. Just thread a saturated patch through the eye and slowly pass it down the bore.

I pack 2 or 3 wet patches in the Leade and neck area , and leave them over-night . Re-wetting them periodically . I feel the neck and Leade area deserve special attention , before beginning my normal cleaning regime . After the barrel is clean of carbon , I try a wet patch of eliminator to determine the extent of copper build up . This barrel has very little copper build-up , and just a wet patch or two cleans it up quickly . I will ; on occasion , use Wipe-out products just to change up the process . Both do well , as far as I'm concerned . And like many TR shooters , cleaning gets done every 2-300 rounds . Time permitting , or when accuracy begins to diminish .:eek::eek:
