Borescoped an inexpensive AR barrel.....yikes

So I took it out today(cold and windy) to try a couple of loads at 100yrd. Literally no load development, just picked a charge weight and gave it a shot.

Actually not terrible. 168 ELDs grouped right at 1” for 5 shots seated at mag length.


And Berger 185 hybrids seated long a bit over 1”. I know the groups could be better because I’m used to a 6oz f class trigger and I felt like this thing was never going to break. I actually wondered if I forgot to take the safety off....LOL.


Overall, for the money with no load development at this point it’s not bad. Not the .2&.3s I’m used to but this cost less than a chambered barrel for that gun.

Please let us know here how it shoots once you get a few 600 yard strings thru it. Should make an sweet AR Tactical class rifle.

Took it to a midrange today. Shot a 198 at 300 then we got rained out with a brutal storm. 4 of us hung out(27 originally) and shot a quick 600 yrd relay in pretty harsh conditions when it let up a little but still windy and rain and I shot a 192. Our range has terrible vertical in these conditions that you can't see. It pushed one into an 12oclock 8. I didn't believe it so if course I stacked another right on top of it.....LOL

The rifle has some promise for a load just thrown together. It's embarassing looking at my huge groups but I really was a blast to shoot.

Sadly it's gong to hit the bench as I break out the real FTR gun in 2 weeks. Oh, and these scores are on a sling target not f class since it was shot under AR Tactical rules so 20 shots at about 2.5 MOA

Not bad at all, especially in those conditions.
Looks like it would make a fine AR Tactical Rifle.
