borescope pic

Hello,

I have a rough spot in this Schneider Barrel barrel that wipe-out won't remove. It is about halfway down a 26" tube. Total round count 30. I know the picture is suboptimal but is the metal stuck to the barrel or coming off the barrel in that spot? It doesn't look copper color. It looks like the barrel has "peeled" off in this area. This is the first time it has been scoped but you can feel the spot for about 6" with the cleaning rod.

James: I've been using my "Hawkeye" borescope for 2 years now, looked inside a lot of custom barrels, and never have seen anything like your pic. I personnely would not fool with it, but would mark the outside of the barrel with a piece of masking tape, include a letter describing the problem, and let the barrel maker check it out. All the custom barrel people I've come in contact with have stood by their product, and if something unexpected happened,, a flaw in the barrel steel?) they should make it right. These borescopes are showing us a lot of "things" we never knew existed.
