BoreBuddy and CCI SV

So Im a novice at pointing 22LR bullets with this BB die. However if you follow their instructions it definitely repoints these CCI SV rounds.
I did 100 of them and reduced the COAL from .985 t .969". It also changed the diameter to around .224.5 to .225".

First time out the showed promise so I decided to load up another 100 or so today. Maybe I'm just being more observant but I'm noticing after the pointing on some rounds the projectile has loosened up some.

So 22lr gurus how much is THAT effecting my accuracy?

First 100 pointed had a SD of 16.

Dosent seem to matter how much, or little I point the projectile. Once its touched some loosen up that I can rotate them.

Thanks

When I shot cci sv, I found some bullets rotated right out of the box. Yes, there would be an effect on accuracy, but it is lost in the inconsistency of production ammo. But if you sort out the loose ones and shoot them in separate groups from the tight ones you will have a firsthand answer to your question.

It’s a soft lead bullet and any displacement will disturb the factory crimp. I saw a video about someone sorting CCI standards and also using the bore buddy thing. The results were that there’s no improvement in either situation. Sorting by weight is useless because the stacked tolerances are against the odds. It would be the same as sorting loaded factory 308 by weight, you’d never know what component was light or heavy. The bullet press may change the BC but disturbing the crimp introduces another variable.

Generally, sorting by weight, rim thickness, etc. is worthless; although for non-premium ammo it may marginally help. But for those of us who tried all these things over thirty years ago, almost all will say sorting is generally a waste of time. With that being said, the first match I won was with weight sorted ammo. It took another two years of shooting to determine the weight sorting was not a factor. But, hey, people still do it (usually those fairly new to competitive rimfire shooting) and they swear by it. To those people, I say go for it.
