Bore tech C-4 vs. Wipeout.....Or?

Just want to point out that there is a huge difference between normal carbon in the barrel and the hard carbon ring at the end of the chamber neck. Different things entirely.

The person that comes up with a chemical to easily remove the hard carbon ring will have invented a better mousetrap and all precision shooters will beat a path to his door.

Couldn't agree more. I had pretty good luck with Bore Tech, several days, and a nylon brush. Carbon ring gone, but it was a lot of work.

Bore Tech C4 with a bronze brush is the best carbon remover I've ever used.

Even though Bore Tech specifies the use of a nylon brush, I prefer the extra mechanical action of a bronze brush which I believe help prevents formation of a carbon ring.
Have you ever seen an Iosso stiff nylon brush. As good as bronze.

How do you guys figure out you have carbon (or anything for that matter) that isn't being removed with your normal routine? Borescope?

That Chameleon gel from Bore Tech does a good job of showing up anything thats still in your barrel, as for cleaning stick to JB or Iosso if you use the paste

Don't own a bore scope. I seem to get some really nice results using SEAFOAM. If the filthy patches are any indicator that's great, but I rely on the results on the target. 3 are stainless barrels and I have rubbed a patch on the barrel outside and get nothing on it so I have assumed that the black is indeed carbon. There never seems to be a totally clean patch come out of the bore regardless of the number of passes with a brush then a patch. I can get a clean patch using BoreTech 4.
Not scientific but it's kept me happy and accurate.

No but I'm open to trying them.

I do believe the mechanical action of a brush helps prevent formation of a carbon ring. I have no evidence to base this belief on other than intuition. Bore Tech nylon brushes are also very stiff. I opted for bronze because I have a bunch of them and believed they provide better mechanical action.

For stubborn carbon deposits and the carbon ring that I cannot remove with my normal routine (BT Eliminator and JB) I have used CLR. The stuff flat out works with minimal effort. You really don’t need to remove the carbon ring completely anyways in my eyes.... it rarely causes an issue except in your head.
I agree! Barlow
