Bore scopes

Anyone ever use a Teslong

NTG100 45-INCH FLEXIBLE USB BORESCOPE ?

Looking to buy one but don't want to refiance my house to get one .

I have a Tessalon, but the NTG150HW -- $129 - almost double the price but still a bargain. It appears that the NTG100 requires you to be tethered to a PC whereas the NTG150HW has 2 benefits -- Rigid wand to run down the bore and wifi so you can easily connect to a mobile device (in my case an iPhone.) Realize, that as you move the scope down the bore, to get a good view with the side mirror, you need to rotate the scope. This may or may not be an issue with a flexible wand -- i.e. the scope will have a tendency to flop around inside the bore. This tendency is probably more controllable with a rigid wand AND being free standing (not connected to your computer) it is also probably easier to rotate. All that being said, resolution wise, I find it provides every bit as high quality view as my Hawkeye -- which cost significantly more.

My Teslong is my new favorite thing. I still judge a barrel by what it shows me with bullets, but the ability to LOOK at the tube, and try to make some informed decisions on the "why" of what it shows on paper, well, that has been very nice.

I also helped out at a local auction, clarifying what chambering a rifle likely had (hint: it wasn't what they thought), and it has helped me KEEP one rifle, and NOT buy another.

The rimfire I just picked up, for example, has a pretty rough leade because it has been fired very, very little. That supports the general condition of the rifle, which, while not unfired, does appear all original in 97% condition or better.

The scoping with the Teslong, when put together with my 50 and 100 yard zeroing work, has shown me that it is indeed a good barrel with its whole life in front of it, even though it's over 75 years old.

I would only have had 1/2 that information a year ago before I bought the scope.

The screens are nice but not worth the money in my opinion. They’re fine to check on your cleaning progress, but that’s about it.

When used with an iPad/computer you can see everything you need.

I've seen many say something along the lines of 'gunsmiths like bore scopes because it sells a lot of barrel work '. Whatever.
Personally I have never wished I had LESS information to work with so I own and use a borescope and won't be without one again.

I love my Teslong borescope and I've been behind a few Hawkeye's, which the Teslong owners have never claimed it's as good as a Hawkeye. One bit of advice, know and understand what you're looking at. If you're not sure ask and post a picture. I'm never to old to learn.

Some of the older ones, that didn't have adjustable focus, definitely had me scratching my head when looking through them. Lands looked like grooves, etc.

Ok I just got my Teslong Bore scope , and played with it today , and have a couple pictures. Tell me what you think . Not quite in focus I"ll work on that . But is this what you don't want to see ? , this is a old barrel , Looks like lots of crack lines ..

It’s an old barrel that ain’t been shot much or not ran hot at all…whatever your cleaning regime is, don’t change a thing. When a dasher barrel gives out, they look like an old asphalt highway…that road is only just starting to show wear.

I allways clean while the barrel is still warm from shooting , it is easer to remove the carbon that way and It will clean with about 9 patches
. I don't hunt any more so don't run hot loads and I seem to get better groups with out hot loads .

I am on my third Teslong, 2 have failed but their support has been 100%. While waiting for my replacement Teslong I purchased a Depstech borescope its shorter than the Teslong not as stiff
but it was 29.99 at Chinamazon. I seem to use this one more than the Teslong.

What is the hole ? a muzzle brake in a pistol ?

Now I have a bore scope , I have one gun that has a carbon ring . And I just cleaned it again and it looks better but still has the ring . Guess I'll have to look for posts about carbon ring .

You're going to need an abrasive for the carbon ring - JB, KG 2, Iosso, etc.
Personally, I've found KG 2 and Flitz bore polish to work the best.

As luck would have it, The hole is almost centered on the land, Creating a bullet scraper, Had the hole landed in the groove you wouldn't be having that problem.

Teslong has made the "Hawkeye" Obsolete.
