do it when the barrel is hot and oil the barrel before doing anything, makes a slurry and helps loosen the carbon I think it's what I do anyway, barrel hot right after shooting coat with FreeAll let set then go with the carbon grinder might get lucky

Its funny I was thinking that same thing, that after my next range session after its hot that, that would help loosen things up maybe. Il definitely give it a try!

Spend all the bore scoping time studying your flags you will get better results.

Kevin, that looks pretty normal to me. The inside of a barrel is a pretty violent place when you think of everything that happens when a case is fired.

Barrels are a lot like cylinder walls on a race engine. I've see quite a few that look pretty janky but when you check them with a dial bore gauge, they're perfectly round and straight....so they make good power.

Beautiful ones that aren't dimensionally stable...not so much.

What I saw in all the photos was nothing more than "Tooling Marks" , and they get "amplified" by the carbon , powder and junk left behind by firings . If the marks really concern you , continue with a severe cleaning regime , and they will gradually smooth out , but won't go away .

Probably cleaned it fine. Its just hard to get in the corners.
