I use bore guides & I have several for different rifles including bolt & falling-blocks. The guides do catch some of the cleaning chemicals before they drip down into the action/bedding but I'm sloppy & they don't stop all my overruns.

I'm beginning to wonder what the big deal is. I use carbon-fiber or coated steel rods. I've never seen a chamber worn out by a steel cleaning rod, but I guess it can happen. Being careful & getting the rod started straight should eliminate the need for a chamber guide when using a carbon or coated rod.

IMHO, the number one job I expect a bore guide to do is protect my trigger from cleaning chemicals, everything else it does is just a bonus!

His rod stops work real well also.

Most experienced Gunsmith’s say that they’ve seen more bores ruined by improper cleaning than by shooting. The primary job of a bore guide is to keep the rod from making contact with the barrel. I have a stack of them for each of my rifles. Especially my 22LR’s. Some people don’t feel the need to use them. I do. YMMV...

I just ordered one of Killough’s bore guides with the inserts for my Flash Turbo. I called and they picked up on the second ring. Not a recording but an actual human being.

I explained what I wanted and he told me exactly what I would need. It was so nice to have someone do that in this day and age of push 1 for this and 2 for that...

Thats the number I used. I called and his mailbox is full. About the time i was putting the phone down he had called me back. Keep trying.
