Borden Rifles full builds - experiences w/ after-sale service?

I have a Borden Alpine single shot action with 4 barrels all chambered by Borden. A great guy to deal with and quality second to none. Jim Borden, in addition to being a well known gunsmith, is a mechanical engineer as well as a machinist. This depth enables a customer to get much more, in terms of technical acumen, than one would with many other gunsmiths. I started out incrementally improving Remington actions, taking note of what it cost to get a Remington action up to exacting standards conducive to accuracy. When all of these costs are added up, one will find that a custom action is pretty close to what one put into a Remington action. There is nothing wrong with going the Remington accurizing path as it enables one to progress while incrementally spending money as opposed to a single outlay. A custom action comes with all of the enhancements and accuracy with no need to do anymore except to chamber and fit a barrel. The other nice aspect of working with Borden and others is to request they keep on file all of your dimensions for future barrels. This way one can send a barrel and have it chambered and fitted precisely without having to send the receiver.

Chino my friend, this is a forum...... people read it every day to find relevant information.

Thank You for sharing relevant information

EDITED TO ADD...... the reason this post is worded like it is is because it's A REPLY to another post "Chino, this is 5yrs old"...... which post has been deleted.

I don't have a dog in the hunt but I can't help but notice the stark contrast between the Borden Enterprise and NSS. I likely won't be building a full custom rifle again in my time, but if I were, Borden would get very strong consideration.

Yeah... no one likes Borden and you shouldn't have him build you a gun :D. I don't want to wait longer either....;)

I've got one and plans for 2 more in the future: 378 boltface, ppc, and standard. That way no matter what I want to chamber, it can go on a borden.

Being a dealer for Jim’s actions, I have had the honor of getting to know him very well. Not only has every one of his actions performed, any issues that may have come up were answered professionally. All my guns are Borden’s and was happy to help / sell Erik Cortina, Jay Christopherson, Shawn Williams, and several others their Borden’s.

You’ll be set with a great base for throwing X’s on target.... GOOD LUCK!

With the one I have and this “5year old thread” I am sold on another. Now just to decide which.??

You will not find a better smith, both before and after the sale, than Jim Borden. Borden rifles are an easy button. They flat out know what they are doing.
