Borden actions-who has one

I bought a new take off 40 xb ks stock to do a varmint build and was thinking of keeping my eyes out for a 40x action. Would love to have 1 but i think they will be more than i am willing to pay for 1. Not sure as i never really see them for sale unless it is a rifle so i do not know what they are worth. So this brings me to the Borden action. I have had damn near at 1 time all the custom actions out their built on something but his. I have heard very few talk about them but what i did hear was good. But i surf the forums mucho, mucho when i can and it is very and i mean very seldom that i see a rifle for sale with 1 or just the action alone. I would love to try 1 as what i see on his web site seems impressive. So why is it you never see them for sale. He has been making actions for awhile so it is not like he just opened up the doors and started selling them. I do not shoot bench rest comps or keep up on the stats so i do not know if they are being used their. So whats up, who has them or had 1 and can provide me with some helpful insight to these actions.

I would stack them up against any top-tier action. I have several, one for a 6SLR f-class and another for a 7saum. Jim is meticulous with his work and will do what it takes to make the customer happy. I also shoot a Barnard, Pierce and others and although different, Borden actions are not lacking in quality/workmanship. People get them and hang onto them IMO. Eric in DL

I have his Rimrock Benchrest Action and a Alpine Action
both of them are very nice one in 30BR and in 6BR Jim is a
great Guy also if you have any questions he will answer your
emails or phone calls quickly His actions are top of the line ..
If I was going to build another rifle soonI would buy another ..If you are
going to buy a Alpine for your Remington stock he will even install a Remington Bolt to fit the bolt opening better if you want to see pictures

Can i get 1 that is a Remington clone single shot that will fit in the stock or are they only repeaters?

yes you can, the Borden Alpine is available as a solid bottom single shot.

I have a Borden Alpine single shot action and am very pleased with it. It is my first custom action after having gone the rout of accurizing Remington factory actions including a 40X single shot action. I ordered the action by talking to Jim Borden. I asked for a Jewell trigger set at 4 oz., timed, along with a 20 MOA Farrel base. If I'm not mistaken I ordered the action in November and took delivery in April or May several years ago. I had Jim take all of my measurements so that I can send a barrel blank to him for chambering without returning the action. I currently have four barrels for that receiver all chambered by Borden.

He is probably the most professional, couteous and customer focused person I have ever dealt with. He stands 100% behind his product and is a real gentleman. I would highly recommend his actions or any of his services.

Was the farrel base special made for the action and was it a 1 piece rail?

Yes, the Farrell base was made for the Alpine action and is a one piece base. The action base holes are larger than normal. I bedded the base per the instructions included for a perfect fit.

I got hooked up with a Borden action after winning $300 coupon and never looked back. I have ordered 8 as of today and haven't had a bad one yet. Jim is a class act and his actions are great. They are just as smooth as a BAT and barrels interchange like clock work. Jim puts alot of effort in timing the action and trigger and it shows. We are using his BR and BRM.
