Bolt Truing & Fluting

I was being nice, you don't want me to explode ;)

Anyhow, enough of this petty confrontation.

I totally agree with you on camo rifles. I've personally never been a fan of the camo either. Not even a huge fan of synthetic stocks really, but they do well in severe weather conditions. I actually like a good old nicely grained piece of walnut like the one on the rifle in your picture. Very nice.

I don't dress up my hunting rifles too much, but a nice fluted bolt really fine tunes the looks on a custom rifle.

You know I was talking to a buddy today. It seems that some of my closest friends were people that I initially had a hard time with. They had strong feelings about things as I did. The internet creates problems as we don't see facial expressions or hear tone of voice.
My Grandson is 9 yrs old and he has certain likes as all of us have.

Every thing is good.

Lol! So true! I almost beat up 2 out of my 3 best friends when we first met in high school. That's funny. You're alright Butch ;)

My boy is 8 yrs old and when we went to get him a TC Hotshot 22lr rifle a year ago, he had to have the camo too :)

I didn't even realize there was a page 2. Thank you guys for all of yalls feedback. Im not fluting the bolt bodies to "make it shoot any better". The finish on the rem 700 sps action is really poor and has a gritty feel. Im hoping by fluting and polishing it will remedy this. But lets just be honest, I think it looks just looks awesome. Im one of those darn 20 something year olds with a loud truck and likes purty rifles 8). Even if i cant shoot worth a darn, at least my rifle will look good ;). Thanks again, guys!

I turned a 700 sps into a custom 204 ruger. Had the action trued and all. But the very first thing I did to it was polish the bolt body out to get rid of that worthless powder coating job Remington puts on them. Really made it a lot smoother and got rid of that horrible "gritty" feeling you are talking about.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out

Here's a nice pic that I received recently from one of my customers. Vortex fluting on the bolt and knob. Camo and fluted. Let the fighting begin!! :o :)
