Bolt Tarnish

I'd start with a maroon Scotch brite pad or a brass wire wheel or brush. It's a lot easier to go coarse after starting than to start with too aggressive materials. But a small electrolysis tank might be a good option for that, too. Easy to put together with stuff you likely own.

That is not in any sense, "light pitting"! With the bolt looking like that, I'd like to see the rest of the rifle. I once had a Remington come into the shop. It was an Eskimo gun and had spent a couple seasons rattling around in a boat on the Arctic ocean. It was no worse than that.
Sand blast it and paint the handle with Rustoleum. Black would be first choice, but there are color options which allow creativity. If the striker spring hasn't rusted through, it might still work.
I showed the picture to a friend. He suggested putting it into a tumbler with some coarse media. By this, I think he meant something like pea gravel. In lieu of a tumbler, a cement mixer with some fine crush would probably do the trick. WH
