bolt handle

is it possible to weld onto a savage factory bolt handle? i want a different style of handle and was thinking that i could biuld up the existing 1 i have and then grind it to the shape i want. does anybody have any ideas other than just buying 1. i have some ideas in my head how i want it to look and have not seen any like i want plus i think it would be fun and less expensive.

If your good enough at welding, it shouldn't be a problem building it up and reworking it....

Look at the bolt handles offered by Kevin Rayhill at Stockade.

I have a jig for turning factory bolts. The problem is many of the Savage bolts have a spot of perosity in their core.
If one can get a factory bolt turned down then it can be threaded for many aftermarket knobs.

Fred at Sharp shooters Supply also has some after market bolts handles.

hey thanks for the info. i figured what i would do is biuld it up from 1 end to the other kinda like welding thin metal, basically not trying to put to much heat in 1 spot for very long, spreading the heat out. i can do this with a wire feed welder so as long as the bolt can be welded i should be good.

thanks
