Remington Bolt Knob

I have an older 40X action with a straight bolt handle. I've purchased a newer McMillan stock and it's inletted for a bent bolt handle. The stocks kind of wide, so a longer bolt handle would be useful also. Anyone have any suggestions for a gunsmith to bend the bolt and add a longer handle? Or maybe I'd have to replace it. I'd rather do that than grind out the stock I think. Thanks.

Dan Armstrong. Good work, fast turn around, and fair price. He's a member here.

Dan is your man! Good man to deal with, does "Super Good" work and the price is right.
A+++ all the way.
Dan's a complete asshole, check him out anywhere you go. Probably takes nothing from his technical ability but I hate assholes.

Dan Armstrong tells it like it is. Many people have a hard time with that. He alienated himself over on Snipershide by calling a bunch of them exactly what they are. Wannabees!
Few people on this, or any other forum, know as much about bolt handle timing as Dan does.

In a related question, not to disturb this lively discussion, does anyone make a tactical style bolt knob that just attaches to a Remington factory bolt knob? I'm thinking of a knob made of delrin or similar "hard" plastic clam shell knob to use for hunting and informal benchrest.

Gary Eliseo might make one for his tube guns, but I didn't see it on his website.

Thanks

Bill

I recently had a stock Remington bolt knob modified by buying a teardrop knob from Brownell's and the gunsmith milled the knob and threaded it to 5/16 X 24 and screwed on the new knob and it looks great. Not sure if that answers your question, though. I suppose the gunsmith can bend your bolt as well.

I have 2 with Dan now. He has done several for me. He does not suffer fools. He tells it like it is and doesn't worry about feelings. Dan has always been straight and to the point. He has also given me a lot of good help. He does not have time to bottle feed and diaper clients. He has always been courteous to me.

I've been in contact with Dan through emails and he seems more than able to do what I need done. If I decide I need to change the bolt handle I will probably use him. It looks like I need a longer one that's swept back. I just got the stock bedded last night and will be deciding on a course of action in a day or two. Thanks for the help.
