Bolt Fluting

While I think a fluted bolt looks great I wonder about it's usefullness. For a new build is it worth the expense?

I think the idea behind it is less drag as less metal is rubbing together, less weight, and aesthetics. Must be something to it as a lot of the New customs are made that way.

If it is on a field/hunting/ tactical rifle..it helps when dirt, snow, whatever gets into the action/bolt area.

For the most part...I think bolts are fluted for weight reduction and looks.

A fluted bolt helps strip away any debrise that may cause a tight fit action to bind up, after having my cutom PTG bolt coated with Robar's NP3 it only makes for about .001" maybe a little less fit in the action, I think that if it wern't fluted it would be likely to bind up some.

And it does look cool

Another big thumbs up for Kampfelds.
I priority mailed out my bolt on a Monday,
got it fluted and back in my hands the following Thursday.
I'm sending another to bush and flute.
