Bolt close saftey issue?

I’ve been going over this gun while I wait for some components and I just now noticed this.

I have attached pictures of the bolt fully closed out of the stock, in the stock, and open.

Based on feel the lugs of the bolts are fully engaged in the action and when it is sitting in the stock it just lifts the bolt enough to take away some of the slop before you open the bolt.

I have not fired this gun yet, I was told there was around 350 rounds through the barrel and its current configuration.

Is it safe to fire it like this or do I need to break the Dremel out and start removing some stock?

From the fully closed position to where it is sitting in the stock the bolt turns ever so slightly but does not engage the lugs

Dremmel out the stock so the bolt closes fully.firing pin fall and ignition inconsistencies.

The bolt's full travel should not be reduced by the stock.
I would tape the area off and use a file.

the bolt handle is hitting the stock somewhere. Find out where and remove it.

Needs some widdlin' - I would use hand tools, not a dremel.

One of the best ways I have found for deepening a bolt notch is to lay carbon paper in between, then press down firmly on the handle. Clear imprint with no mess.
And yeah, not the Dremel.

Agree it probably is safe but I would clear the bolt handle from touching the stock. Nothing should be touching in that area.

Guys….a Dremel is a great tool only made bad from its use by amateurs.
By all means, the bolt needs to drop fully. A good file and sticks with sandpaper should do the job quickly and be easier to control.

So after looking at it this way I’m going to make the call not to shoot it in this current configuration. From what I can tell the bolt is hitting the channel cut in the stock for the bolt, but the problem with that is being a dog leg bolt if I make that deeper I’m going to have to cut into the side of the stock as well so it’s not touching there.

I reached out to Dan at ACCU-Tig, waiting to hear back. The plan is to have a new straight bolt put on and open up the stock as needed from there.

Guys….a Dremel is a great tool only made bad from its use by amateurs.
By all means, the bolt needs to drop fully. A good file and sticks with sandpaper should do the job quickly and be easier to control.

It is a great tool, it just makes mistakes happen much faster like all power tools.

Dan did an awesome job! Turn around was fast and I now have clearance in my stock. Sure beat cutting a dogleg section into the stock
