Savage MK II bolt problem

The bolt was smooth as silk when it was new, but after about 100 rounds when closing the bolt it stops about 1/4 inch from fully closing and requires a very firm push to get it completely closed. This is a 22 lr with stainless bull barrel and thumb hole stock.
Has anyone else had this problem or have any thoughts on what the problem is ?

May not be the problem, but have you checked the bore/lead to see if carbon has build up and is causing the bullet nose causing the issue ? Just a thought.

Check the back of the bolt handle towards the bolt body where it turns square. I have seen them gall. Also when was the last time you detail cleaned your bolt ? Might want to soak the bolt and make sure there is no crud.

Try this , empty rifle no ammo , hold trigger back and with trigger back close bolt . Is it still hard ? If not it has to do with the cocking cam and what you are feeling is the cock on closing

Did you try what I suggested in post above ?
Please keep us posted if problem is found, thanks
