Bolt bushing before and after

unless I'm mistaken, facing the bolt face has nothing to do with the primary extraction.
You run into that when cutting the bolt lugs and the lugs recessed in the receiver itself..

When you increase the space between the extractor hook and case rim, the primary extraction has been reduced by that same amount.

No, the small amount that I remove does not affect primary extraction. When I bush a bolt, I generally take of .0002 to .0006", less than a thousandth, so the affect on headspace is not noticeable. If the bolt has some dings in it and needs a few .001's to clean it up, I ask first. For example, if the rifle is to be rebarreled anyway, then .003" won't hurt anything. However, I don't like to go more than that. I can also install a large bushing to repair damage which is what I do for cutting from primer leakage.
