Bog Tripod pro and con

I am in need for a more sturdy tripod. I came across the bog models. How sturdy are they ? is the carbon fiber more sturdy than aluminum? i get the weight savings. Need for spotting scope use mostly. Is there anything else out there in the range?
thanks

Spotting scope for hunting or range use? For hunting a good head and light weight are a priority to me. I went with a Slik tripod and a Manfrotto head. For range use neither is near as important.
Bog has a good reputation and we use them with Missouri Disabled Sportsman to hold the rifle. It looks bigger and heavier than necessary for a spotting scope in my opinion.

Whenever possible I shoot prone. But I know the day is coming when I will have to take a shot at distance (for me) using something else. A couple of years ago, I quickly tried resting on the Primos trigger stick, and rejected it for the shot distance.

This year I bought a trigger stick, hog saddle and Bog Death Grip and shot various combinations at the range. The Death Grip is a very solid rest that meets my accuracy needs. I got the aluminum to avoid the extra expense. My personal belief is the carbon fiber is weight savings only. My wife enjoys birding and has several carbon fiber tripods. They all lack the rigidity of aluminum tripods we own. But it (Death Grip) will not be accompanying me on my hunt this year, takes too long to setup.

From her experiences (and she has every high end spotting scope that exists - slight exaggeration). What she favors for distance viewing using a VCR type fluid head, is my Bogen aluminum tripod. When viewing ducks across a mile wide lake with the wind howling, it is the most stable. We have a bunch of Slik tripods we use for a variety of tasks.

The best value I found is the Vanguard Alta - quite rigid but reasonably lightweight. I've used it with pellet guns and spotting scopes, but wouldn't hesitate to use it with a rifle (I had PRS in mind). It is as stable as the much heavier tripod I use with my 6" Ritchey-Chretien telescope.
