BOG Tripod ball head?

Does anyone know if the BOG tripods will accept a ball head? I'm thinking about getting their Death Grip tripod, but I don't really like the whole vice thing. I'd want to put an amazon ball head on it and attach it to an arca rail.

There's a guy that makes a kit to convert the Bog to a ballhead setup. I'm not certain of forum rules so I don't want to post his contact info here If not allowed? Pm me if you want his contact info.

I used the Little Crow Gunworks kit for my DG. With the kit you can still use the factory saddle if the firearm doesn't have an arca plate. Really lightens up the tripod if you have an area plate on your rifle and don't need the saddle.

I wasn't able to find a tripod with a ball head on their website. I found a ball head accessory that would fit my current BOG, but its reviews are less than stellar.

Their DeathGrip Infinite comes with a ball head. It’s OK at best. The tabs for the screw that tighten up the ball head are prone to stripping and breaking off. We have sold a lot of ball head conversions to guys with that issue on the Infinite.

I would recommend against buying a DeathGrip just to convert it over to a ball head. You’re throwing good money after bad at that point.

We typically recommend the Slik 700 (Amazon is the best place to buy) for guys looking for a cheap, entry level tripod that want a ball head. There are some pretty good carbon fiber tripod and ball head combos on Amazon that will come in cheaper than buying a DeathGrip and ball head conversion as well.

We generally recommend at least a 52mm ball head to go on top of it. Ignore ball head weight ratings when considering them for use with a rifle. You’ll never get close to the max weight rating. What really matters is how much torque they will take due to the rifle not being perfectly balanced on the ball head and trying to “tip” in one direction.

The bigger the ball head the more torque it will take and the more stable it’s going to be to shoot from.

I made a simple adapter for my BOG:

Thanks!!!! That makes total sense, and its the exact kind of information I was really looking for.
