Bog carbon fiber tripod anyone hunt with them??

Any hunters using Bog carbon fiber tripods? What is your review of them. I'm hunting Maine Moose in forest, across ponds and logging clearcuts in Maine. Want to steady my standing rifle position above scrub brush/new forest growth for ethical harvest on longer range shots. Have harvested elk at 300yds from sitting position with 300wby mag, one shot. Thanks.

Like White Eagle, I to use an aluminum one for prairie dogs. For the price of carbon tripods, it would be a good down payment on another rifle. What ever you decide on, make sure you practice before using it in the field.

When I'm working up a load or sighting in with a new scope, I do it from the bench. When everything is great at the bench, I move to the tripod and do my fine tuning from there.

I really like mine. I ended up putting an arca Swiss ball head on mine to better suit my rifle, and save a little weight

I haven't used the carbon fiber one. The aluminum one is a bit heavy, but not unmanageable. I converted mine to ball head using a kit from @OpenSpaces You can purchase the kit complete with a ball head or buy just the bushing, bolt and adapter plate if you want to purchase a ball head elsewhere. The ball head makes this set up work pretty well. Install an anti-cant level on your scope and you're good to go. IMHO, as the Bogpod comes from the factory, it's less than desirable to use. Aiming and leveling your rifle is a struggle. Might be OK for target shooting, but for shot acquisition in a hunting situation it could very well be a problem.

Sounds like a very expensive replacement for alumminum. May be a slight weight savings when you have to carry a 1000 pound moose out of the woods.

Time out nailed it. less than ideal, but with the correct Mods it is a great piece of gear.
