Bob Jones (BJones Sights) in Hospital

To make matters worse, my last info is that Bob has pneumonia.

Could somebody please send a message to Allen Elliot. My messages to him have been bouncing for years on his Yahoo account. I sent him 4 separate message this AM regarding Bob and all bounced. He needs a Gmail account at the least.....

The following is a message from a close friend of Bob's. She sent this to update us.

I apologize it’s taking a while to update everyone on Bob’s status, however it has been very hectic, as each day has brought forth new challenges.

That nursing facility did him no favors. I couldn’t get in to visit him (nor could anyone else), and when I attempted to talk to him over the phone, he could barely get a word out. It was very difficult to reach the staff and care manager, but they assured me he wasn’t being sedated. It was polar opposite of the Bob I saw the day before they discharged him, so, I went to the facility and spoke with the Care Mgr. and Dir of Nursing outside. They told me the “doctor” (nurse practitioner) would be seeing him the following day. When a nurse told me, he refused a chest scan/labs & that he had developed a cough, I stressed that he needed to be transferred back to the hospital.

I’m relieved he is now at St. Joseph’s as he had developed pneumonia at that facility, possibly from aspirating, and had low electrolytes.

I haven’t been able to reach everyone that knows him. A friend of his, ordered a welfare check, as he couldn’t reach Bob on his cell or landline. Luckily police were able to track him at the hospital and contact me. I am so thankful Randy is now able to assist me in helping Bob. He said he’s known Bob since he was 4 yrs. old as Bob worked with his father back in the 70’s. He shared some fantastic memories and was so concerned as to what happened to him.

I saw Bob yesterday, he is more aware of his surroundings, difficult to understand when he speaks but knows both myself and Randy. I’m so thankful we are able to see him, to encourage and reassure him through this process. He is getting great care there and I told them not to discharged too soon as this was the result of Scottsdale Osborn sending him off too quickly. As to where he’ll go to receive better care/rehab/healing, is the biggest question at this time. He can’t talk over the phone at this time, but I will let you all know when he is able to.

The latest news is that Bob is at St Joseph's at Tower 5N (neurology) in room 46. He is nowhere near ready to come home or be alone. He has fractures in his right hip from a fall at his home that limit his mobility and he is having some brain issues. Not a stroke necessarily, but they aren't quite certain what the issue is. He tugged his catheter out a couple of times and now has an issue with bleeding from Mister Happy. Just one more problem that must be solved. More again when I hear anything definite.

GREAT NEWS....

Was finally able to speak with Bob Jones since he has been in the hospital. Bob sounds good and is very upbeat. His speech is a little slower and he has some difficulty pronouncing some words, but he does not seem to have any issues with the confusion he supposedly had earlier. Have no idea when they will turn him loose, but it will be days instead of weeks is my guess.

Bob is at Cobalt Rehab in Surprise AZ Room 105 http://curahealth.com/inpatient-rehabilitation-facilities/cobalt-rehabilitation-surprise/

Thanks for continuing to update this, Grant. I’ve only met Mr. Jones a few times at Camp Perry, but he was always friendly and had interesting stories to tell. I just knew him as “the sights guy”, didn’t know the depth of his shooting/coaching history and accomplishments until a friend filled me in. I wish him the best.

Thank you sir...Bob really knows his stuff.

During the tryouts (Oct 2001) for the 2003 Palma Team at Camp Butner, there was a particularly brutal day where some pretty good talent got annihilated. I honestly thought I'd shot the high agg that day, but Bob was the man and would not be denied. Always had complete confidence in the man when he was turning the knobs.

Bob was discharged and is at home. We spoke on the phone late last week and he finally sounded like the Bob I used to know. He is still hurting from his cracked pelvis, but he is wayyyy better mentally than he was a month ago. He still has bouts of light-headedness if he stands up too fast. The main thing is that he realizes his limitations and operates inside of them.
