Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters held the last leg of the 6th Annual Bob Dorton Memorial 4-Gun, held each year to honor one of the founding members of our club. We normally hold this match across two weekends in June & July, but this year for a variety of reasons the UNL portion got postponed until this last Saturday. We had 8 shooters show up and interestingly only 3 actually shot rail guns. So we had 3 guys shooting rails battling it out with 5 bag gunners.
Conditions started out mild for our little corner of the Ione Triangle with light breezes mostly out of the SE but not much push.
Ron Pepper laid down the gauntlet out of the gate steering that hot shooting rail of his to a 100 yd Agg of .1488 with 4 small 1's and a .207 to take 1st going away. Francis Lee shot his rail into a distant 2nd place at .2278 which was a super agg in it's own right, and I took 3rd with my HV Panda bag gun at .2374.
We moved the frames to 200 yds as the breezes started to pick up and reverse to our usual switchy tailwind out of the SW.
Steve Epstein shooting his HV bag gun, got back into form with a 3, two 4"s, & two 5's for a nice .2439 agg to snag 1st,
Ron Pepper took 2nd with a .2893 agg, I again took 3rd with a .2924 agg.
The UNL 100/200 Grand Agg results:
1st: Ron Pepper .2190 Rail
2nd: Greg Wilson .2649 Bag
3rd: Steve Epstein .2834 Bag
We only had a total of 4 shooters who shot all 4 legs of the Bob Dorton Memorial and the overall winner of the 4 Gun is Greg Wilson with a combined SP/LV/HV/UNL 100/200 YD Aggregate of .3198.
Jeff Rodriguez finished in 2nd Place with a .3429, and Steve Epstein finished in 3rd Place at .3690.
I would like to personally thank Bill, and Jeff for doing the setting up and teardown, and helping Steve with the targets.
Also want to give a shout out to Mark Galloway, one of the local club members who came out to join us and seemed to have a good time getting his feet wet in CF Benchrest.
Hope to see everyone in November for our next match which will be a Chabot Special.
