Sloughhouse Benchrest Shooters finally held the 2nd half of our annual Bob Dorton Memorial 4-Gun match this last weekend at the Sac Valley shooting Center deep in the heart of the Ione Triangle. This match is normally held over the course of the first 2 weekends in June & July of every year in memory of one of the founding members of our club.
We cancelled the July match due to 115 degree temps that weekend and rescheduled for August.
We had 9 shooters come out to contest the HV/UNL portion of the 4-Gun this weekend. Temps were warm starting in the 70's, hitting the low 90's by the time we were wrapping up @ 12:00. Mild breezes with our usual reverse switches to keep your attention on your flags.
We started with the HV100 on Saturday morning, with Greg Wilson shooting his vintage Panda smoking the field with a very nice .1944 agg including an .094 that was small group of the match. Steve Epstein took 2nd with a .2350, Jeff Rodriguez 3rd at .2734.
Moving on to the UNL100, Greg continued his winning ways with a .2332 agg, edging out Dan Lutke's .2496, Bryn Borras 3rd with a .2580.
Sunday morning we stayed with the Unlimited Guns starting with the UNL200, Bryn dominating the competition with a .2295 agg including 3 of the 5 small groups of the Agg. Dan took 2nd edging out Steve Epstein for 3rd .2824 to .2829. (.0005)
Now you know how I feel Steve!
Continuing with HV200 as the temps and the breezes were picking up, I returned to form winning the yardage with the only agg in the 2's at .2841, followed by Jeff 2nd with a .3166 beating out Steve for 3rd who had a .3240.

Bob is the main reason we have the quality SBR facility we do on Range 11. Our Club wouldn't be what it is today without all the hard work, boundless energy and enthusiasm for BR that he brought to the range on a daily basis. We miss you Bob!
