blurry vision

When shooting targets on a bench with a scope I'll have periods of blurry target view. Is this from just taking too long to sight and shoot? It happens with any of my scopes. Nikon and Burris. Not to be confused with a paralex thing.
Does everyone experience this? tootalloutdoors

Your eyes are drying out. The way my opthomoligist explained it to me the tears in my eyes lack enough oil to lubricate the eye causing my eyes to dry out. He gave me industrial grade eye drops to try, I haven't had a chance to see if it makes a difference. I've used some OTC drops that seemed to make an improvement. I know a few shooters that are having the same problem.

I experienced a similar problem this summer. It turned out that I needed eyeglasses. Trying to focus on the reticle and the 100yd. ten ring while waiting for the wind flags to stop gyrating caused eyestrain that I never before encountered. Taking my eye off the target momentarily relieved the blurry vision, but it came right back as soon as I tried to hold the sight picture for any length of time. It's hell getting old :,

Medications can mess with your vision too. My vision changes daily, sometimes multiple times daily, all due to one medication. Sometimes I have to look through my glasses to see out the scope. Sometimes I have to take them off...and yet I never refocus the scope. Long shooting days usually means a banging headache from the eyestrain. Anyhow, if you're on meds, consider that it or they might be a problem for your eyesight. -Rod-
