Blooded the 40X this past Saturday

I have been out a few mornings this week hunting Mule Deer. Yep, I feel good enough to be out hunting-It is about time!
It is not hard hunting, but at least I am out some. Passed up on several bucks many would shoot, but I am looking for a mature buck. I am letting the little and mid-sized live to breed and get bigger.
I have had my Rem 40X, chambered in 308 Win with me to hunt. Mueller APT 4.5-14 scope, Weaver Tactical Rings, Hornady brass, Varget and the 168 grain A-Max.
I have a guy who has been bugging me to sell it to him, so I probably will, if he gets permission from the boss.
This morning as I was working my way toward the road to head home, I saw a coyote. I was already going very slow on the two track, so I got my hearing protection in, and lasered him from the Tahoe. Wind was down at the time and almost a complete tail wind. The 168 grain A-Max did its job @ 466 yards.
Talk about a "meat report!"

Not really sure, since I have not been out much while dealing with a severe case of shingles the past two months.

Nice shot Ernie, has the non resident hunter traffic been as intense over there as it has been here this year???????

Ernie , I pray the Lord gives your body the healing we all know He can provide. I shingles is rough.. Thankfully I do not know first hand.....

I do know first hand. About 4 years ago I got nailed by shingles. Took months to function normally and over a year to actually clear out.

You are "the man". The more you do the more distractions you have to forget those darn shingles. Keep it going.

kinda off topic but ive heard there is a vaccination shot to prevent shingles. several friends of mine in church have come down with it...theres only one that hasnt so far and she did get a shot...anyone else heard if this vacc. is worth getting?

They usually don't recommend till you are 60 or older- I am soon to be 53 and sure wish I had got it.
Check with your doctor. Once all the symptoms are over my doc is recommending I get it.
You don't usually get shingles a second time, but it happens for sure.

Ernie,

Isn't that a rifle? Did F-class ruin you for XPs? :)

Sorry to hear you had the shingles. Nasty from what I've heard. Glad to hear you're through it.

I just wanted to draw blood on this rifle.
I have actually hunted with rifles a couple of times the past 5 years.
Plus with being down and all, it was ready to go (confirmed drops) and had ammo loaded ;D
