Bix n Andy trigger install problem in BAT action

I recently sold my Jewell BR trigger and purchased a Bix n Andy trigger to replace it. I'm having issues with the hole spacing on the trigger insert. The holes do not line up and I'm not able to get the pins to insert. The insert would need to slide down about another 1/32 of an inch but this is impossible on the bix n andy trigger as there is a small ledge that prevents the insert from sliding down any further. Not sure where to find an insert either that I could drill the holes in the correct location. Not sure how to fix this. Any help greatly appreciated.

I was thinking the same thing. I am thinking of removing some of the material on the inside of the insert so it slides down over the trigger and the holes line up. Any suggestions on the easiest way to remove some of the material? I do not have access to a lathe or any high tech equipment. I was thinking of carefully removing material with a dremmel tool.

You do not need a lathe, you need a mill. Send it off to someone with a mill so they can relieve the trigger hanger. You can do it with a dremel tool, but it's not going to be the best looking job.

gee whiz, for the price they're charging, I would want Bix and Andy and Barney and Gomer to do the work and send me an autographed picture. Have you called the mfg to discuss the problem? ???

I had the same issue with a CG Trigger and had to mill a slot in the side of the trigger hanger.

I have one of the B&A triggers, that I like very much, and when I put it on a Viper, I ran into the same problem. It is really no big deal. I used by old Sears 6" belt sander, whit a fine grit belt that is meant for metal, to take material off of the bottom of the trigger hanger, where the shoulder is currently interfering on yours. I used my dial caliper to keep track of the extent and evenness of the stock removal, took my time, took the last litte bit off with wet and dry on a flat surface, and it came out perfect. This is really non critical work, since you are making clearance rather than fit. There can be a little gap between the trigger's shoulder and the bottom of the hanger, so if it is not perfect, it will not cause a problem. I made mine a snug fit, but that was not for any functional reason, just aesthetics. It may just be my imagination, but I think that the rifle is shooting a little better. I raised mine up from the ounce and a quarter that it came set at, just because I am used to slightly more.

I have yet to find any info on these triggers, every time I Google I get Bix Amos and Andy or Bix Raggedy Ann and Andy?

With the latter, you might want to watch a re-run of Hogan's Heroes first, to brush up on your German. ;)

Thanks for all of the information guys. I actually had the same thought of taking a belt sander to the bottom to remove a slight amount of material but then started thinking I was crazy for trying that. I also thought about taking some material off of the inside so it slides down the correct distance. Not sure which route I will take but the belt sander idea seems a little easier. Should I start with 60 grit and just hold on to the insert with my bare fingers???? Just kidding...

Don't mess with the inside. I am pretty sure that you only need to remove material off of the bottom. I held it and used very light pressure, stopping when it got too hot to hold, to dip in some water. Just don't get in a hurry.

I assume that removing material from the bottom of the insert will not effect the fit and function in any way? I don't have the action right now to test it as it is out for melonite treatment. I was obviously hoping the trigger would be a drop in installation.

It shouldn't. Besides you can always order another bracket and modify it. No one will know that it is there, once it is in the rifle, and dealing with it should be easier than a Melonited one.

My Bix'n Andy fit fine in a BAT trigger hanger and 3LL. Couldn't you fix this with a triangular file in a couple minutes? If you are careful, I just don't see the need to involve machine tools. The hangers are aluminum and pretty easy to file.

Call me stupid, but can someone tell me exactly what this part is called? I have been referring to it as a trigger insert but that may not be correct. I think it would be easy to take a file to it also as it is just aluminum. I think either route would accomplish what I need it to, I guess it's just preference on which seems easier.

To accomplish the task manually is called draw filing.

Sanding will round corners etc & look like ?hit!

As mentioned in the first response-
Your best option is to mill the hanger on a milling machine-eliminates all guess work!

Anyone know where I could purchase the trigger hanger for a BAT MB action? I would like a spare on hand in case I mess mine up. I searched but couldn't seem to find one online.

+1. I wanted an extra as well and they told me that different actions use different trigger hangers. I gave them the specifics on mine and got the right one. They apparently have some sort of file on their actions so, if you give them the serial number, they will send you the right parts.
