Biggest chuck I have ever seen!

No scale to weigh but guessing 15-16 pounds, I came back home after doing my friday running around and my 14 YO son had this waiting for me, this is number 24 for him just in the yard and adjoining field and using a 17HMR Savage that is a literal tack driver... I've been hunting chucks for a long time and this one takes the cake. 26 inches nose to stern..

Looks like the neighbors Shar Pei. That thing is huge, even the tail is fat. I shot one like that a few years ago that was gray down the back.

My son wanted to take it to local taxidermist but he ruled that out when i told him of how expensive they can be... Big male and probably the patriarch of the neighborhood fields..

Wow ! that sure is a big one. I haven't seen anything even approaching that size for quite some time. Nice !!!

I was inspired, when I read this post on Saturday. I've been stalking but, unable to get a large female all summer. I finally got her last evening with the 20x222Rem. I didn't weigh her but measured 27" from nose to tip of tail. She had soybean leaves in her mouth when the 32Gr. Blitz-King put out the lights. I sure hope I never get too old to hunt chucks!

Eddie, good job on the big one! Must be something in those soybeans! lol. Thanks everyone for the kudos, my son is still talking about it and so am I... ;)

They are definitely getting bigger now with this years Pups going in the 7 /12 lb. range. Been getting consistent 10-11 lb. adults. I have a new Farm that hasn't been hunted for as long as I know. I expect to get some large ones that may even break my largest from last year at 15 1/4 lbs.

That's a big one for sure there Frank. Did he make a nice WHOOOMPhhhh when he was hit? ;) WD

My son used his Savage 17HMR and had to coup de grace it from point blank range to finish it off. Told him we may have to get 22-250 out as chucks are getting bigger so we have to get bigger guns... ;)

I once went to a gun shop in Roanoke Va that had held a ground hog contest and the winner won with a 26# ground hog. That was the biggest groundhog I have ever seen. I think it was shot in a garden in September with 22 magnum. This was about 40 years ago.

Gee Frank, what does he have to do for you to let him use one of your Swifts.... ?? ???

Managed to get ten today at the new spot. Largest was 13.98 lbs. but I know there is a 15 lb.'er there somewhere! The 25 gr. V-Max from the .17FB was knockin'um dead to 314 yards, days longest shot.
