Big 7mm's

I tried a 7-300wsm with a 8.5t 30 inch Krieger and did not get good results with the 190 ATIP at 1000 yard with RL23 and h1000 both with a 225 free bore and even tried pushing the free bore out just for the ATIP around a 325. Tried running them around 2930-2950 accuracy was poor. Most likely the twist was too slow, however I wasn't impressed with caliber in general for use in F Class didn't seem to hold vertical in comparison to the .284 win during full 20 shot strings with sighers, in load development the 7-300 shot some awesome 10 shot groups at 1000 but nothing held up in match conditions. I gave up on it after testing four different bullets and three different powders, couldn't get it close enough where the extra speed made enough of a difference to offset the loss of accuracy.

My 7mm 270 is launching the 190gr A tips at just over 3000fps and capable of in the 0.1s at 100yds..
3 out of 5 groups were 0.1s. A 0.2 and a slightly bigger group from
Shooter error..
Not been able to test at longrange due to covid restrictions..
Not long now and I can try them at 1000yds..
I wondered how much faster the 280 nosler alike will push them and they'll not blow up.

Mine is for f class and at the experimental stage so until I shoot them at 1000yds i won't know.. 66grs gave an ES of 8fps and an MV of 2950fps.. 66grs wasnt properly tested for accuracy.. it was mainly for chrony figures.. 2 shots were cutting that i tried so it did show promise.. I can revert backwards if the loads I chose isn't quite working at 1000yds.
67grs gave 17fps.. I opted for inbetween and went 66.6grs hoping the ES would be a little less than 17fps..

Best of luck with the project, the most competitive results I had with the 7-300 at 1000 were with 180 hybrids and RL16 at around 2900. I found it quite difficult a caliber to work with as results from 10 shot testing at 1000 wouldn't hold up in full strings, but I am sure other shooters on here have it figured out and probably will chime in.

My 180gr hybrid load is 67.5grs of H1000 which its throated for.
This too will do 0.1s.
I bought the rifle with loaded ammo.. I changed the seating depth as they were jammed. They shot pretty good but they shoot really well with a jump..
Same as the Atips I've not tried them past 100yds.
MV for the 180gr hybrids in about 45f was 3050fps.. This load showed nearly no vertical at 100yds. I will be using it this weekend in a GBFCA friendly match. Hopefully is will shoot great..!!

Going to try them in my 280ai. I had a new 8twist barrel spun up and throated for them way out ther. They shot decent last year in testing with my 8.5 twist and it had a short freebore. Hoping to reach 2900ish will try N-165 and N565. Then maybe H1000

I may try the 190gr A tips in my 284..
My 7mm saum is throated for the 184gr hybrids and the bearing surface is down in the donut area when just touching the lands.
It may shoot them great but not ideal seating them like that.

The gun shot great in the GBFCA friendly but I didn't.. I just couldn't grasp the fishtailing breeze..
There was some outstanding shooting going on.
Some of the best I've witnessed.
It was great to be back on the range with a great bunch of shooters...!!
