Biden Proposing More Gun Legislation

We have a limit on rounds in a clip\magazine here in Australia, thinks its about only 5. I am a target shooter and have single loading rifles only so not sure. Assault rifles or ones that look like them were banned years ago and Semi-auto had extra restrictions placed on them so not every Joe can get them unless he has a valid reason - Like Feral animal control etc. We also have laws that you have to store your guns and ammo up safely which means a lockable gun safe or equivalent. It got guns from under beds and in the backs of wardrobes away from those who should not have access. They have a saying here that they drum into us, "Secure your guns and secure your sport". Breach of safe storage rules means instant loss of guns and license. Sounds like some of things things are headed your way.
sorry you have to deal with that....

I hope it doesnt pass and we take the house and senate which would cut the head of the snake off.He would end up a lame duck fake president.

I have read before that in Australia, citizens have no legal right to self-defense.
I really find that sad but also very unnatural. Self-defense to me seems the most
basic natural right of any living creature and how any government can justify and
rationalize that it isn't to the people is beyond my understanding,
In Australia and many other countries for that matter. the people have apparently
complied with that logic. Maybe there is another way of seeing it that my head
is incapable of imagining.
Best Wishes to the fine people of Australia and elsewhere whatever the case.
22BRGUY, I enjoy reading many of your posts and thought I would respond to your post. You are correct that we have no right to self defence with a gun. You can of course defend yourself or family by any other means possible. Things are a little different here where the only ones who carry guns are the drug criminals and the likes as they are often followed and searched by authorities they only carry when they need to for their own protection or doing a hit job etc - They travel in their own circles and keep to themselves. I have never seen a gun in the hands of anyone in the street, only at clubs and gun ranges and they are the safest people going around. Break-ins etc are usually carried out by kids and run away when disturbed and are rarely caught - too dam fast. Over the years, have have seen a few fights at the local pub, takeaway store or even a road rage incidents but these are usually just a fist fight or maybe a tradie will produce a weapon (piece of wood\steel) from his truck but that is usually a sign for the other person to leave real quick. I have 4 target rifles worth about $10K each and don't even store them at home, ammo is in a small safe and powder is in a locked cupboard. Don't get me wrong, if I lived in South Africa or the USA then I would have more guns then the anyone, but I am not a hunter so no need . I might get one more for a long range event next year. ie 1000 yards

Ya said:

So In the event of a home invasion you can run to the safe to get the weapon.

We must do it for the children, right?

The way you stated it seems like you are on board……
Yes, 100% the children. They like to play with all things including guns. I grew up with guns in the cupboard and would play with them when Dad was not around when I was around 6 or 7 years old. Actually broke the wires on his scope and never told him when playing around once. Dad was in WW2 and taught me about guns very early and to respect them but many are not lucky. These days I help out at my club with everything from coaching to purchasing to advise as well as when they have trouble with there shooters license which is very common. ie Many of our older veterans are having trouble keeping there license and therefore their guns due to mental health related issues from the war even thou they are not a danger to themselves or the public.

I don't believe in locking firearms up "to save the children." Teach them respect for firearms. When my Grandkids were young I had a couple of pistols in drawers that were easily accessible to me..... But the ammo was in a place where I thought it was safe from them where they couldn't find it.

I don't really see the difference between having guns locked up and having them in a drawer with the ammo hidden except that now someone can drop my mint 45 revolver on the floor when they find it in a drawer and play with it

You do your thing then. I hope my country is never like yours. I’ll do my thing until there’s a majority of people here that think like you.

Veterans have to have a license

And they lose their license

Because of mental health

Nope

Please re-read me post, I help verterans when they get into trouble with the authorities. Cheers

Thanks, it has reach a sad state of affairs, unfortunately shooters are considered one rung above a pedophile. If stopped by Police and the vehicle is registered to you then they know you are a shooter and an owner of firearms before they get out of there car, same as any calls to your house. Support the NRA best you can and honor the constitution is all I can say for those in the USA.

I can't figure out what this moron is talking about, but then again it's obvious he doesn't know what he's talking about!!

Hear the quote that Biden's legislation will allow "no more than 8 bullets in a round"...

In the course of the interview Biden also restated his claim that AR-15 bullets “travel five times the speed of an ordinary bullet.”
Does anyone have a copy of his load data? I would definitely be interested.

I mean absolutely no disrespect to you sir, in fact just the opposite, I am very grateful
to you for sharing the story about how it is there "down under", but in trying to imagine the mindset of people down there, to me I imagine always feeling like a little child being
watched over by mommy and daddy government or the babysitter or worse yet the
pet owner. never being allowed to grow up or be set free to be responsible for my own life. Does that sound to you like it is or am I off base?
I can't help but wonder what in the minds of people makes government people in any capacity these godlike superhumans that know better than everybody else and can do no wrong and are put on these pedestals of power that can order how everybody else has to live yet live any way they want themselves? Yes, there have to be laws, but they have to be universal and equal. If the people can't have guns, then neither can the government. SIMPLE!
Of course, the opposite has been the case throughout the history of humanity. The "owners" and the "owned" has been norm.
We still have some here in this country who want to think that way but sooner or later these "government people", regardless of position, prove that they are as human and flawed as the rest of us; sometimes as bad or worse than the most flawed at large,
I'm so grateful that the founding fathers of this nation clearly saw that historical trend and by our founding documents for the first time in world history, they at least outlined a system whereby those in government were to be as much or more scrutinized and held as accountable as the people at large with equality and not superiority.
Unfortunately, because of money, cronyism, family ties ,lust for power, Corrupt Elections and other reasons, much corruption of our system has taken place over time and our whole system is in danger today as well but at least we have an outline to go by to restore a system of liberty, responsibility, accountability and equality for future generations if we so desire it enough and I can't help but believe that the people of your country or anywhere else for that matter, couldn't do the same if they joined in unity and wanted it enough.
Thanks again for your update.

Thanks much Dave and I must have been writing the other post when you replied and I missed it. Sorry
The big thing about this whole arrangement that bothers me is when governments
can have any all of the firearms they want but people are restricted, registered and you name it with impunity.
That means DICTATORSHIP CONTROL by government to me.....ineqality at least but
if most people feel safer that way, then I am no one to say anything.
For some reason I think a 1000 yard popper on your shoulder would look good to me! LOL!
Best Wishes

Thanks BR guy,
You are correct, we call our state the "Nanny state" - Over the years the government (federal and state) keep making new laws which they say are to protect us. Unfortunately, the new laws often take away some of the things that made Australia a great place. I grew up with a Air rifle and remember having bonfires and fireworks every year and even playing down by the river fishing or catching crabs. Now you need a license to fish, fireworks were banned in our state in the 80's, all firearms including air rifles must be registered to persons over 18, Airsoft toy guns banned, and Bonfires require a permit but good luck getting one of those. Stop and frisk by police is how the police keep the guns\knives to very low levels.
We have some lovely national parks but now the "Greens" want to the 4WD and horse riders out and really don't like like the bushwalkers - they want the bush to be 100% natural and undisturbed. Unfortunately, feral animals and weeds (seeds dropped by birds etc) are taking over and its the 4WD guys who keep the fire trails open. Very sad, don't please don't let it happen in your country.
