Bib 108's in a dasher?

I have some questions for anyone shooting this combination or similar cartridge with these bullets. It has an 8 twist 28" barrel. I just got a batch and almost ready to start testing. What seating depth and velocity is working for you with these bullets? I know each rifle is different and I will have to do some work I'm just looking for a a starting point and a range within witch to work in hope of saving some time and barrel life.
Thanks.

Pose your question to Randy Robinett here: http://www.bibullets.com/ and then standby with pen and paper or a tape recorder for a treatise on which of his bullets to use and all the fine details on obtaining the best performance.

The advice he provides is free. All you need to provide is patience while he passes that information on to you. Enjoy!

Got a mail out to him right before I started this thread and one over at benchrest. Just looking for all the information I can get ahead of time. Knowledge is power so they tell me.

You must have a real long free bore on your Dasher chamber to run that combo, or you will have a whale of a lot of the bullet back in the case (at least that would be so with the BIB 108's I have with my current Dasher chamber and I have a .130" free bore on that reamer). Am I missing something here?

Larry,
I answered your questions over on benchrestcentral. I have a .104"FB and have not had any problems. Girl Friend shot a 1.485" Sceamer last year with one of my Dasher's using the BIB 108s. 107 SMKs will shoot like a house on fire also.

I tried 'em as soon as they came out in one HG Dasher barrel throated with a .104 reamer that was a little large in the bore. Thought they'd be be the perfect match with their fat base, but they couldn't beat the current load load with 107's I'm running.

I shoot 108BiB's in my Dasher in front of 33.7 grains of RL-15. I seat them .010 off the lands. For me, they shoot lights out. I just ordered 1000 more.

Thanks Jay thats the info I was looking for. Where the base of the bullet resides in the case is of no concern If I can get them to shoot.
The chamber is what it is and I don't have the means to change it.

I was setup for Berg. VLD's but the tail still resided in the case. By my measurements from the point on the ogive where the bullet is .243 as measured by a Stoney Point comparator to the base of the bullet is a few thou. longer on the Berger than on the Bib.

The Berger boat tail is much longer than the Bib. So while Bib's bearing surface is longer the base of the bullet will still be in relatively the same place.

The bottom line is I have what I have and I need to make it work. The VLD's did not work for me even after trying all of Bergers advise and with 3 powders. It's easier for me to change bullets than it is a barrel or chamber. If I loose a little powder capacity but it shoots it's a win in my book. If neither bullet works I can sell em and try another. Changing the chamber will be a last ditch effort because it's the most difficult and if it does have to be trashed I can't make up any losses on it.

Thank you all for your advise.

Disclaimer- make sure you work up to 33.7, if you haven't already. In my rifle, that's just before primers start cratering and other pressure signs start to appear.

I had the same issue you did with VLD's- I was not able to make them shoot well in my rifle. I did find the best seating depth using Berger's ladder technique for tuning the seating depth on their bullets, but both the 108BiB and 107SMK still outshot them from my rifle.

SHot some of the Bibs yesterday. I don't think I'll need to try any other bullets. ;D ;D ;D

Still got a little work to do. Looks like it will be VarGet or RL15. H4895 was too hot.
Thanks all for the help.
