Beware Banned Member VCAT Directing Emails to Rob in ND

In the last 6 hours, banned member vcat has sent 14 PMs directing people to a Rob in ND who may have gear, products they want.

DO NOT COMMUNICATE with Rob in ND. This is a fraud!

Typical Message content: Rob in Minot ND 58703 can help out regarding your Request. Please reach out to Rob at robertbahena0@gmail.com

Our Background search revealed no such person in ND. This is a scam!

To ALL -- If someone sends you a PM directing you to email a third party, REPORT this immediately to Forum Boss.

Vcat's email is vttcvt [at] gmail.com. Background check could not identify a real person, but did show similar scams on other hobby boards.

It's the same over at FACEBOOK Marketplace.......I'll bet 3/4 of the car/truck adds are fake. Just to be an asshole I respond to every one I see with "I'll take it"!!

There was a new scammer today. Sent four PMs in response to WTB action threads.

NAME: Dextron, joined Forum 11/28/2020

He has been banned.

Folks: It is against the rules for ANY new member to send PMs soliciting ANY sales in the first month.

If you see anything like this "My friend has what you want... email him" sent by a relatively new member, notify Forum Boss immediately.

Also, some of these guys lurk for a few months before trying the scam. If you see anything suspicious, even from a member that's been around for a year, notify us. AND...

-- Always check the Trader History
-- Always look at the person's posts (or lack thereof)
-- NEVER, EVER do a deal over $100.00 without talking to the guy with VOICE, LIVE, on the TELEPHONE.
-- Verify the true location of seller by getting his actual name and address and looking at that on a map, and checking his identity with web searches.

Sad to say it, but to protect yourself, you have to start with the presumption that a new seller is trying to rip you off.
