Better velocity with the 6XC

Hi All,

For those who, like me, are or were having a problem with 'velocity challenged' 6XC loads I found some tweaks that helped. My OAL was very short, ogive barely out of the case). I realize one wants room to seat bullets out with eroding throat but there was room to adjust. Lengthened my throat 0.100' and picked up 2 1/2 grains worth of space, and velocity). I also ran a variety of 'jump' lengths from .080' to touching the lands. At .040' velocity was up a bit and accuracy was still sub-moa. I ended up with .020' off lands for solid 10-shot 3/8' groups at 100 yds. and 3-4' at 600 yards and called it good. I know everyone seats their bullets into the lands for long range but this seems to work. Will shoot another 1000 yd. match next weekend and see. Bottom line I went from 2850 fps to 2970 fps,not much but every little bit counts at the 1000 yd. line).

Good shooting!

I've come to find, this year has been the first I've tried it) jumping seems to improve accuracy in all the cartridges I shoot: 6HAGAR, 6XC, 308 for Palma.

Came across it by accident shooting some 6XC cartridges I'd set up for another rifle in my T2k; .040' jump was more accurate than anything I'd tried before.

Working now to verify this 'phenomenon' for 600 to 1000 yards in competitive events so it's a work in progress but so far I like what I'm seeing.
