Rick I know this is an old thread but first time I've seen it. Way cool and all my Coopers have Jards also 6 OZ. They are strickley Pdog rifles and just get shot off my portable bench.

boatammo, I too was surprised to see this old thread come back live. Love those little M38's!

That rifle, along with my others are still going strong, and at present are about to get staged for a week+ long trip to the outback for rat shooting and camaraderie with my crew.

IRT Cooper Varmint rifles....a real pity that NHC will not be producing these great little single shot rifles any more, and just high priced large caliber "tacticool" hunting rifles. I'll be hanging on to the Cooper's I have, and likely you will too.

Mine in the field last season out for rockchucks with the 40gr Nosler Varmageddon over A2200:

I have two like new Remington 40X rifles in 223Rem and 222Rem Magnum. Both are factory stock rifles with NO modifications. Remington advertised their 40X as a CUSTOM gun. Each hand made to certain accuracy standards. Remington further claimed they lost money on every 40X with an annual production of around 100 to 150 guns.

My Cooper Model 21 Varmints in 222Rem and 223Rem are just as accurate as my 40X Remingtons.

RIO, you’ve been bragging up that woman for years. Rightfully so. I think it’s time you introduce me to her sister. Please send pictures of sister’s guns and truck.

Well Hotshot, her sister is also a fox, but she's been with her hubby since high school, so she could be classified as "taken", and not the Liam Neeson type of taken. But the truck is a 2023 Ford F250, and her carry is a Sig P938 if that helps clear it up a tad.

Great pair of sisters!

First time I've seen this thread, and I thought I had the best wife.

I've got a Cooper 221 Fireball VE that I need to get out of the safe and put the scope back on.
When I bought it I mounted a Leupold 6.5-20 x 40 and loaded some Remington cases with some Rel7 and some Vmax, it couldn't hit the side of a barn no matter what I did.
The scope was a used one I had bought and when I locked the rifle in a vise and adjusted the scope I found it wouldn't move then would jump a mile, perhaps that was why it was cheap. I pulled it off and sent it to Leupold for a service and a new reticle.
Since it came back I haven't mounted it back on the rifle.

Which is the best powder for the 221 Fireball?

I'd put mine (wife) up against anybody. I whined every now and then for about 5-6 years about wanting to hunt Africa for Cape Buffalo. We built a new house, and I worked like a dawg to pay off a fifteen year loan in six years and eight months. About six months later I started whining again. She looks at me and says "there's money in the bank and you have a valid Passport. Go! or stop whining.". Three months later a last minute cancellation in Zimbabwe came up and I was on the plane. Ten days of ten miles and ten hours a day, followed by big glasses of Amarula every evening and popcorn with sugar and milk later I took my shot.
Two years later and I was Plains Game hunting in RSA. Two more years and a second trip to RSA to fill four empty spaces on my remodeled gun room.
I'd still like to go back one more time. Just for Eland, and a nice Impala.
Someday...
