best way to remove a good primer?

Hi.. I'm new.. and I'm just paranoid about primers.

I'm working on getting all my dies setup, ogive.. etc.. and I'm wondering.. what do I do if I need to pull a loaded cartridge?

I've got a puller, but should I just fire the pulled cartridge and pop the primer as usual like or any other fired case. Can I do somethign to it to make it safe?

And.. what if I set the primer sideways or something stupid?

Skanpile if you seat a primer sideways you are going to know it in a hurry. I kill my primers with wd40 on cartridges that have had the components recycled.Water may work but I read a few years ago that water didn't always defuse them.

I can tell you this I accidentally crushed a primer in a semidark room while listening to the TV my wife was watching and it was spectacular, of course this lead to me having to repair the hole in the drywall where I threw the Lee primeall that I was using. Also all reloading is done in the workshop now as it has been banned from the house LOL !

I use a RCBS universal decapping die.
I wear a heavy leather to shield the case,
and safety glasses, also.
I haven't had one go off yet.
I generally save them to use in fireform loads later.

Al.

so I gather:

1) spray in WD40 to saturate the primer
2) use neck-sizer to decap
3) throw in pile for cleaning..

not too bad.. thanks for the WD40 tip.. my ultrasonic with vinegar will clean that proper..

I just use a Lee depriming die. Just go easy. You will never have any problems. I always toss them in the trash.

If you pull the bullets, there is no need to remove the primers - just load the case as normal.

As to "killing" primers, it ain't so easy as it sounds - WD 40 doesn't do much.

This is a very interesting read.

If you want to remove the primers, just push them out with a decaping die, and reuse them - I have punched thousands of primers and reused them, with no problems.
