best way to clean the brass after being in the tumbler

Hello,
What is the best way to clean off the media residue from inside my brass after its been cleaned in the tumbler? I used brake clean, carb clean and even hot soapy water and the residue is still in it:(

thanks Doug

The best way is to not have media residue, throw a couple of dryer sheets in the tumbler with the brass and they will pick up most of the dust. As an added benefit, your brass will have that spring morning fresh smell.

Whatever is left is inconsequential.

OK you arer sure doing something wrong or it sounds like it to me.

First off when you TUMBLE your brass you are useing a machine the does just that TUMBLE.Now most to this date have gone to useing the stainless media with some sort of soap even a little lemonshine to help out. Then after an hour or so just washing it off with clean water then drying it off.Have read many post to saying how well it works but cannot bring myself to getting into this way of cleaning my brass.

Now for me I just use corn cob and a cheap car polish with a dryer sheet cut up into smaller pieces.( in a vibrating cleaner )This way has done a great job for me for some time now.I have never had any type of trouble in any way.It has even worked to remove the Mink oil shoe polish I use to full length resize my brass with with out any other type of help. After removing the brass from the media and making sure the flash holes are free of media I just blow off the brass with a few blast of air from my air hose.

Then it's not residue from the media.
If your just using corncob or walnut then a certain amount of carbon from the burning powder is left inside the case.
This isn't a detriment and has little affect on reloading the case, the recent advent of stainless steel in liquid rotary tumbling has hit the industry by storm.
As a matter of fact carbon left in cases has been the norm in reloading for decades,,

I think he is possibly using tuffnut with jewelers rouge(red) on the media which leaves a fine coat of the red color on the inside of the case.It means nothing as it has been used for years.

Use compressed air to "clean" the inside of the cases. I use WD 40 to clean the outside of the cases and as an added benefit they stay bright and shiny afterward for a long time.
