Best way to clean NICKEL PLATED BRASS ?

What the best way to clean NICKEL PLATED BRASS
that will not damage the NICKEL ?

How many times can it be cleaned before the nickel starts to wear off ?

I shoot a mix of nickel and brass in 357. Next shot will be 40th time the brass has been fired. Mine are tumbled in a vibratory type tumbler using corn cob grit and a little brass polish like Dillons, Brasso or Flitz.

I've never worn off the nickel or had it come off mine - all the nickel cases I lose are due to splits of the case mouth. Nickel seems to be harder and after a dozen or so firings, I will start to lose a few cases to mouth splits every firing - reason I prefer brass. I do see some wear of the nickel plating - they start to change color looking more brass like but only on the head of the case where the primer is, but I've only had Federal cases do that. Those cases start to look different sitting primer end up in an ammo box.

This is all shot out of a 6" revolver.

I personally shoot a lot of nickle (in a 40 s&w), a hour in the vibratory with crushed walnut shells works very well for me.

Same here, vibratory tumbler but treated corn cob (green media). I have worn the nickel finish off a few, forgot the tumbler was on for a few days....

DO NOT wet tumble nickel plated cases with brass cases or you will end up with brasickel colored nickel plated cases. Then you will be asking how to get the brass plating off your nickel cases in your next posting.

Don't ask me how I know this, BUT I may have been in a hurry to clean a few .44 magnum cases and then got kicked off the movie set of the Lone Ranger because I didn't have any silver bullets. :'(
