Best way to attach bolt bushings to bolt

The dovetails are cut tight enough that the inserts will stay put but I usually put them in with some Loc-tite anyway. WH

I'll add that Bill had a novel idea to control the front of the bolt nose.

From moving. Bill used bumps on the back end and the o-ring on the front on some of them. He reported good results. It works. I have some and have fitted some. I've shared the size on this forum I believe since. Al Nyhus was curious and had asked. I don't know if he's ever had time to try it.

I finished my sleeve tonight. My 380 Black Max was all dried up. I started the sleeve on the bolt and tapped the bolt with a deadblow hammer to seat it to the small shoulder I left at the lugs. The sleeve is pretty tight but I can tap the bolt out of the sleeve. Since I don't have any adhesive I thought about drilling 2 small holes through the sleeve and partially into the bolt body then tig welding the holes up to lock the sleeve to the bolt. I would do this more than half way up the bolt towards the handle end. One on top and one on the bottom probably. What do you guys think of that idea?

Nice work! I sure wouldn't TIG it when a retaining compound can be used. You're going to want something thin that's designed for this type of use. Loctite 640 would be my choice.

I did one that way about 15 years ago and Locktite worked perfect.
