best varmint load

I had a 6br,.272 neck) built & it is supposed to come in today :D. I have 100 lapua cases primed & prepped, sitting at the reloading table.

Could any of you guys give me some of your go-to varmint loads? It has a 1-10 twist & I was looking at probably the 75gr v-max &/or 70gr blitzking but will consider anything. Plan for shots on yotes from 10-400yards,90%being under 200) but will also be used to eradicate crows, g hogs & other vermin that may be encountered;).

Hot or not send them on. I will start with below book max & work up. Just thought I might be able to get a step up from some expertise here.

Thanks in advance!

Personally, I got great results with the Berger 80-grainer and N135.

I really like the 80 grain Fowler flat base for varmints out to as far as I can see them with Varget, especially with a 10 twist barrel.

Hi My favourite load for 0-400 yds is without doubt the 75vmax in my 1/12 6br and with 31.5g vit135 for 3300 fps.For outright accuracy I have never been able to better groups shot with 80g fowler they are simply superb with vit 135 {31g) or H4895 with similar weight load{cant quote exactly dont have my load notes to hand}.My RPA with pacnor s m barrel[light varmint contour] will shoot vmax into .3,s at 200 with this load and I would think a safe load to go in 99% of any 6br but take care anyway!Cheers onehole.

I have tested most bullets from the 65 grain Vmax to the 88 grain Berger and I get match bullet accuracy with the 75 grain Vmax over varget. My gun is a 12 twist 26 inch barrel with a .269 neck.

Lapua brass
BR4 primer
33.0 Varget
75 grain Vmax
.010 int the lands
3330 FPS- no pressure signs in my gun- still neck sizing only after 4 loadings.

Hi AndyW Just out of interest did you get the 88g bergers to stabalise in your 12 twist 6br or was it that you have tried them in another rifle???I have only fired a few rounds but I was surprised to stabalise the 87vmax in my 12twist 6br<dont know what will happen at longer range though???perhaps you could tell a little more please of your experience with the 88,s>cheers onehole

Thanks for the tips, still waiting on my new 1-10 Lilja:cry:But got 595 Lapua cases prepped & ready for loading. Couple jugs of varget,n135 & h4895. 80 gr fowlers, bergers, 75 & 87 vmax, 77 lapuas even got 95 bibs. Maybe santa can expedite my barrel:)I will post once I start shooting again. Merry Christmas & happy Holidays

I wish I had a gatling 6BR on my plane, six lilja or krieger barrels would make anyone happy! The so called politically correct temporarily shut down our aerial wolf hunting with lawsuits. In the mean time I made a few mistakes neck turning/prepping so they were sacrificed to the round file. Thanks Again

Yes, I got the 88 Berger and the 87 Vmax to stabilize in my 1-12 br. I did all of my initial testing at 100 yards and I did get better accuracy with the 75 Vmax though. I have shot the 87 Vmax out to 300, but the Berger only to 100 yards. I found with the 6br and the 12 twist I got stellar accuracy once I broke through 3300 FPS with the 75 Vmax.

I shoot the 87 Vmax out of my 6mm Rem. at 3450FPS with great accuracy and where I want to be with speed as well.

Rem 40-X - 28" Rock 1-12"- no turn .271 neck -35.0 gr. VV-133 - Rem 7 1/2 - Moly plated Nosler 55 gr. .020" in - 3950 fps. - Safe in 3 Dashers whilst prairie dogging. I've fire-formed several thousand Dashers w/ 32.5 gr. 133 & same bullet in a re-chambered old Hart ppc. 3500 fps in 21" bbl. I feel a bit guilty shooting up a full 44 lb. jug of 133 with the past shortages. Oh well........Al.
