Best tent for hunting

Looking for a backpack tent that will need to with stand really bad weather .
First choice you are going to have to make:
- will you settle for a "3 season" tent or
- do you require a "4 season test

The selection goes down dramatically if you pick the 4 season and the weight will go up considerable. But the weather it will withstand and not fail (primarily snow load), is dramatically different.

Next would be how many it needs to sleep, and how much weight you are able to allow for the test (of your backpack load). After that headroom and features will guide you. All my tents are 3 season tents.

you really do need more than one shelter in your collection. [but you have to start somewhere]

i have a eureka, a custom, a 4 man tipi, a six man tipi and a 12 man tipi.
each has a use-but the six man and the 12 man get the most use by far

since there is a lot of info you have left out, it sounds like a 4 man size would do well.
it is light and compact. you can cut a pole to reduce weight and if necessary you could carry a stove for heat and gear drying. sometimes stoves are almost useless such as floating a river in Alaska in the tundra where there is almost no wood.

1 man 4 season would be great ,what do you have to offer?

Jepp2 is absolutely right about a 1 man tent. They’re useless imo. A 2 man tent with a decent sized vestibule is really a one man tent. When and where you plan to use the tent are important. There’s no way in Hades I’m paying for and lugging a 4 season tent around unless it’s really needed. I also wouldn’t have a traditional tent for almost all lower 48 hunting. A floorless shelter is soo much lighter to start and has great advantages imo. If I’m going somewhere where there’s little or no fire fuel I would drop the woodstove but I’m not going to a floored tent until absolutely necessary.

I throw in a vote for MSR tents for a 4-season shelter and Sierra Designs for a 3-season.

I agree about North Face. Back in the day the name meant QUALITY gear. One they went mainstream, they started churning out cheap gear & clothes for the masses. I still have an OLD school Mountain Light jacket and mountaineering pack from my youth when I was heavy into rock/ice climbing, both of which are still going strong.

A fishing buddy is loaning me a 12x20 cabelas alaknak and woodstove. I will set it up for an overnight at my gun club, run the stove. A little 300 yard practice for elk season included. I have a tarp for under it and a camping mat for the floor. Thinking a 60"x80" welders blanket would work under the stove. We have cots, good bags. We will be at 9000' end of October, south Wyoming. 1. Any must haves, 2. and would be nice to have--- for the tent. Will have chainsaw and handsaw. Will have a fire extinguisher with.

Some one man solo tents offer nearly the same amount of cubic footage that 2 man tents do. My Eureka solo tent wasn't real roomy but it was plenty big enough and I never remember any moisture inside that was troublesome. If there was, I'd have remembered and tried to remedy the issue. My only complaint would be room. It held me, pack and weapon. Bag was a mummy which isn't preferred but light and warm. It was probably a 3 season tent but worked well in wind, rain and some snow. I'd recommend a 4 season tent as many Western States have 4 seasons of weather in fall. Good luck in choice.

I like the those tents, let me no how it goes, thanks

Our hunting gang use Cabelas Alaknak tents for base camp, they're very good, but no way a backpack tent! I use a Sierra Designs 2 man with rain fly and floor for my backing solo! Never was in a typhoon but stayed dry in mountain rains. I have been looking and liking Marmot Tents.

I use the Cabelas Alaskan Guide tent for hunting. It’s too heavy for packing though. We set up a wall tent for cooking and gathering. Then sleep in separate tents.
