Best SS Pin Tumbler?

I use a BigShot tumbler with 10 pounds of pins, 1 gallon of hot water, 2 tbsps Dawn, 1 tsp lemonshine , 100 pieces of brass for an hour and they come out great. With this volume, it doesn’t even fill the drum halfway, as you can still open the cap without spilling water. You could easily triple the recipe and the drum would hold it all. Great product!

whats the volume of those big shot tumblers? 2 gallons, more, less? How much brass are you getting in there? I was looking at a small cement mixer vs running batch after batch
The drum is the same for both but the BST-60 has an upgraded motor so it can handle more weight. I can tumble 500 .284win brass with 25lbs of SS Pins and 2.5gallons of water.

As far as the pins the instructions tell you the amount of pins , the motor is rated for a certain weight , adding more pins is OK if your lowering the amount of cases. I have the Tumblers B Tumbler, the red unit and the Harbor Freight , single drum unit . It's a small drum , one pound of pins and for small runs it cleans just as good as the larger tumbler , the dish detergent does most of the cleaning. Like I posted before , they are all good , depends on how many your cleaning at a time.

I’ve got a Thumbers B I bought in 1970 still going strong, all original parts no replacements.

I use a FART, but if I were in the market I would have zero problems using a site sponsor like BigShot tumblers.

I use the tumbler from them
like the Thumblers but with bearings instead of bushings
works Great

Ok gentleman after some forum insight “Thank You Guys As Always” I’m going to go with the site sponsor and try out a Big Shot. If some of you guys are running them and say their a solid unit then I’m going to run with it. I’ll get with them in the near future and roll some steel lol.

I also have been using Frankford Arsenal's rotary case tumbler for several years. It was about 18 months from when I first started using it that there was an issue with the rubber liner; as, for some unknown reason, it deteriorated where it would leave a black and somewhat sticky coating on the brass (but not the SS pins). I called Frankford Arsenal and the immediately sent me a new drum and I haven't had a problem with it since. I do like the sifting end caps to help with removing the SS pins.

I was recently given a Frankford Arsenal SS wet tumbler. I have used it several times now and really like it. It does a much better good then my Hornady dry tumbler. I use a few good squirts of dish soap, about a 1/4 cup of Lemon Shin, and about a table spoon of cream of tartar. The brass comes out nice and shinny inside and out. I get the Lemon Shin, but not sure what the Tartar does. However, it works like a champ! Still trying to perfect the after process. Separating the pins from the brass(especially when still wet) can be a challenge I would also recommend getting the separating magnet. It does help quit a bit.
If anyone has a good process for separating the brass and pins, I'm all ears.
I think you meant 1/4tsp (teaspoon). 1/4 cup would possibly pull the zinc from the cases and turn them pink...

I used a Thumlers Model B for years but I wanted something bigger and bought a Big Dawg several years ago. It has a heavy frame and the axels run in bearings. I paid extra for the motor upgrade and had a timer installed. I didn't really like the PVC drum and use a drum from Rebel, about like a Thumblers, but the bearings allow me to load it much heavier than the Model B allowed. Unfortunately it looks like Big Dawg has quit making them!

If I didn't have this set-up I would look seriously at the Big Shot. I use the standard 38 Super case full of LemiShine and 2 caps full of Wash-N-Wax to a full drum of brass and water.
