Best scope zoom range for 223 bolt action varminter

Folks,

I'm looking for advice selecting the ideal scope zoom range for a Cooper Model 21 223 Varminter, 1-14 twist, 45 to 55 gr. bullets. I'm guessing the effective field range will be 300 to 350 ys. but will be doing mostly 100 yd. club shooting.

Any comments or advice will be appreciated.

I have this identical rifle. It now has mounted a Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x40 scope. This scope works very well and is all the magnification you should need out to 350 yds. This scope is an excellent value for the money. Another good choice would be a Leupold VXIII 6.5-20 scope, but it's more expensive.

If you work up some loads that work well for you, please send me a PM or email. My Cooper loves the Sierra 50 gr BlitzKings, as well as any 52- or 53- grain match bullet.
