Best Scope in the $800 Range

Just as the heading states. I am looking for the best bang for my buck in the $800 range. I want FFP, mil/mil knobs, Christmas tree reticle, and reliable. Used is ok as long as it has a good warranty. Any ideas?

Vortex viper pst, or a swfa HD scope... odds are you dont need a "christmas tree" reticle if you dont know the name of it already. Sounds like your not shooting benchrest and want to play longer range fun to me... learn a mildot scope first before you clutter it... you really dont need the "christmas tree" for many applications.

Bushnell HDMR with the Horus H-59 reticle. You can pick them up used for $800-$1000. I had one for a few years and the tracking was fine and follow up shots using the reticle were simple and precise. I had mine on a custom 11lb. 6.5 Grendel gasser.....

Having your same interest and having doing the research I purchased a Sightron SIII 6-24. My opinion based on looking through other scopes: Vortex PST inferior optical quality and tight eye-box / same vs my older Bushy 4200 Tac Elite; NF BR similar optical quality. In this price range the SIII is a great bang for the buck.

I have a real nice Weaver 3-15x 50 with the EMDR in the classifieds that might suit your needs and is under budget. Made in Japan. Very nice glass, mil-mil, FFP, Side focus, red & green illumination. Make me an offer...

While not FFP, and I understand FFP's, this deserves some consideration for your $800.00 price range- quite possibly the best glass you'll get in that price range.

Hey, just thought I would let you know. I just listed a very nice Hawkeye Deluxe Kit w/90-Degree eyepiece and Nova Light-Source.
Check it out.

Go with a Zeiss and forget the rest. Best place to buy ..CameralandNY..you can buy demos at a 30% discount. I shoot Zeiss, NF, IOR, & Swaroski. Best clarity is Zeiss with superb tracking. NF, IOR & Swaroski also have excellent glass and track well. Good luck and safe hunting.

brandnew ffp sightron SIII

take that link...go to SWFA and get the 110% price match

The only SIII with a Xmas tree is the new LRMOA-H, but its not FFP.

I'd say HDMR w/ G2 or Horus is the only game in town for your stated needs.

I'm no optics pro. I do however know this price range very well as I live on a budget that seldom justifies an excessive investment beyond what is needed to do the job confidently.
I have 6-24x50s in sightron, vortex and bushnell........(for my eyes) all three of my bushnells have comparable glass which is dramatically better than my sightron which is dramatically better than my vortex.
Based on my test group of half a dozen:
They are all serviceable.
They all have great reticles available.
They all can be had in first or second focal plane.
They all have reasonably adequate adjustment ranges in there most modern versions.
They all track perfectly.
They all are backed up with no bull sh** lifetime warrantees.
.
I like my vortex but will not buy another unless it is a ridiculous deal, serviceable but really picky eye box and glass is....6.5 out of 10.
.
I like my sightron and will probably end up with more of them just do to MOA reticles and great adjustment range. Serviceable but does white out in bright settings even with sun shade, turret retention durability seams light duty but has not bean a problem.....yet. Glass is a 8 out of 10.
.
I love my bushnells ...... best glass of the three, best turrets retention of the three, best marked of the top two brands and most accurately calibrated parallax dial of the three, easiest to get behind of the three, most durable feel of the three.........subjective, since none have failed me......yet.
I would give the glass a 9 out of 10 only assuming there is even better somewhere.
Honestly I know there are many levels of optic above these but it's my top end until I find a failure necessitating an upgrade beyond this level. Just some guys opinion.

d.id, which model Bushnell scope or scopes are you referring too?
The "standard" 30mm tube Elite tactical ....... two of the older 4200ET 6-24x50.....one newer ET 6-24x50 and one newer ET 4.5-30x50.
