Best savage 111 243win loads???

Hey guys I am very new to reloading and wanted to get some advice on the best load for my 243. This will be a dual purpose rifle..distance and deer hunting. I would like to shoot bullets anywhere from the 87 grain v-max up to the 95 grain. I would want to stay with a ballistic tip or something like that. So from there is where I need your help. Best bullet, best powders for best results. Remember I am new to this so please keep it simple! Thanks so much for the help.

Nosler 95 grain Ballistic tips on a moderate burn rate powder such as IMR4350 is very effective on deer. With a muzzle velocity of around 3000 fps and the good velocity retention of the Nosler boat tails, you can have a point blank range out to 250 yards.

My best accuracy load in a sako forester .243 is a 95 grain berger hunting vld
and 44 grains of IMR 4350. I worked up to this load as you should always start low and work up, what's good in my rifle may not be in yours or any other for that matter .

Shoot straight

Next question....what company actually has the nosler 95gr BT in stock?? Seems like almost all places I look are out of stock on the bullets and powders!! Any help here?

Be careful if you load the 95 vld and the 95 saami hunting vld. The saami has .130 longer bearing surface which causes increased pressure and allot higher velocities with less powder than the vld. 39.8 gr of imr 4350 gave 2920 with the saami vld and 2780 with the regular vld. I've never seen that much of a difference in bearing surface length in 2 similar bullets

Midway has the Nosler 90 grain AccuBond bullets in stock. Supposed to be better than regular old Ballistic Tips, as reflected in the price.

Not sure of your twist, but....plenty of 85gr to 105gr pills on market. For my 243s.....95gr SMK with 40.5gr of H4350 or 100gr Pro Hunter with 39gr of H4350. BTW...don't overlook the IMR powders. They are tried and trued and have proven themselves over and over. I actually get better accuracy with the IMR powders. I believe too many folks buy Hodgdon based on the temp sensitivity issue. IMR4350 is legendary for 243 and IMR4064 has it's place too.

I'm not sure of my twist either boltgunluvr. It was the first rifle my dad bought for me when I was 16. How can I find out what it is? Thanks

I've never heard of Savage using anything other than a 9.25 twist so you can bet that's what it is.
That twist rate is just shy of being suitable for all the .243 projectiles available. An 8 twist will run just about anything.
Still some have reported very good results using some of the longest bullets in the 105 gn class.
Stick around the 95 gn target or 100 gn hunting bullets and you should be good.
