best rings for T36 on a med range .243?

a couple of hundred posts, and you're wondering about this? :o

As with EVERY occasion of this concern, the answer is: Does my scope have enough internal elevation adjustment to serve the purpose? If not, will rings and/or base choice improve the situation?

Count how much elevation is in the scope. Then figure out the ballistics of the preferred load(s), and see if the scope's elevation range will encompass the distances. If so, then choose base/rings accordingly, i.e. to ideally put the scope's mechanical center in the center of your ballistic curve.

Rio Linda (and similarly-challenged) readers, please note that if your reticle has intermediate aiming points, like a mildot setup, then you have more options -- you can hold over/under with pretty good success.

just get some of those Burris Signature rings with the adjustable nylon inserts. No scope marks plus adjustable insert angles allow you to set up to 20 minutes of elevation and with a T36 at 700 yards you may need some.
everybody luvs them....and priced right.

And also make sure they are at least medium height to clear the objective. Midway's site has a great reference to calculate the necessary ring height for any sized objective.

A T36 is a 40mm Obj and low rings should work well with most rifles. For a picatinny rail, I highly recommend the TPS rings: http://www.tacticalprecision.com/TSR%20Scope%20Rings.htm

Half the price of Badger, Nightforce, etc and just as good.

Thankf for the link.

Does anyone make a single piece base with the 1-20 MOA cant other than a picatinny style?

This is a bit off the mark, sorry. You can't go by the size of the GLASS, you must use the size of the LENS. Get thee a Midway catalog and check page 791, and there you have it. The 36x40 has a 56mm objective size (not lens size). Who would have guessed that print references are still useful in the internet age ;->
Go here: http://www.midwayusa.com/midwayusa/staticpages/charts/ring_height.htm and look up 56mm in the chart. Then go here: http://www.midwayusa.com/midwayusa/staticpages/charts/ring_height_comparisons.htm and compare rings. Also keep in mind that the old "mount it as low as possible" mantra is only partially true. You want the exit pupil where your eye is when you mount the rifle. If you have to squish your face down to see anything that isn't any more helpful than if you have to stretch!
