best press for reloading precision ammo

I have not reloaded in 25 years and I have been thinking of starting again. I can afford a nice press but don't want to spend more than necessary to make precision ammo. I had a single stage RCBS. Now I see turrets and progressive presses and don't know if they are as precise as a single stage or just faster. I just want high quality ammo that would allow me to compete in BR or ? down the road, if I choose to go that route.

Thanks!
Tom

While some presses have user friendly,or unfriendly) features, it is the dies that make the ammo, not the press.

Shell holders have enough play in them that the dies will self align the case to their own central axis, and the press just pushes the case up and down.

You can check on ebay & find some good deals. I bought an rcbs rock chucker & a rcbs junior 3 on ebay and their both great presses.
Go to ebay, and do a search: rcbs reloading press.

this is only my opinion i think hand reloading gives me the best precision ammo oal it the same every shell i press is always the same i only use my RCBS rockcrusher to blow the necks out and everything else is done by hand with my sinclair press

The equipment you need is determined by your anticipated loading process. If you will be loading at the range, then portable equipment may be a consideration, simply because you don't have to change die settings or have two loading set-ups. Also, the rifle you are shooting determines the benefit realized by an exacting loading process. A factory chamber will never know if the neck has been turned, for instance.

For starting out, there is no benefit to buying boutique, special purpose press and equipment unless you are committed to pursuing the BR regimen. Shooting a factory rifle or slightly modified, I would recommend good quality, conventional equipment like an O-frame press and threaded dies: bushing sizing die and a sleeved seating die. Redding and Forster make very good equipment.
