Best practice - Measure base to ogive, bullet length, or weight?

Mike, if the bullets in the box provide a given group size. Splitting the bullets up into 5 smaller batches will not increase the group size. All else being equal.

You may not have improved the group as you stated.

I guess what I'm suggesting when I say it could hurt, is that it could hurt your feelings, and more often as concentrated.

If I pluck out 50 bullets out of 500 with weak info efforts, I could end up with results worse than 50 randomly pulled from that same 500. And then I might chase my tail elsewhere, trying to figure out why I had crap for results -even with imagined super special bullets.

What have you found to be the best way to separate bullets for loading? For the most consistent accuracy?

I recently began weighing and then measuring base to ogive. Proving to work fairly well. But, I may just be making busy work for myself.

Love to hear your best practice and results.

Thanks.
It will likely vary by bullet, manufacturer, lot # consistency, caliber, the distance you are shooting and what accuracy/precision you require.
