Best Powder for .30/06 with 180 grain bullets

I worked up a good load for my Rem 700 BDL with IMR-4895 and WLR under the Nosler Ballistic Tips at 0.010" off the lands that holds 2" at 300 yards. I never ran it across a chronograph but assuming published BC and observed drop at 100, 300 & 500 calculate to 2,610 fps.

It was the first powder I tried so I've nothing to use for comparison. Maybe I just got lucky. Perhaps I'm leaving considerable accuracy on the table. I know I'm leaving at least 1-150 fps on the table but the NBT has always performed flawlessly.

Nobody has mentioned Ramshot Hunter. It is a very consistent performer with both 175 and 190 grain SMK and 180 grain Accubonds as well. I use 57 grains for the 175's & 180's and 56.5 with the 190's.

I feel a little elaboration is needed for Accurate 4350. Accurate 4350 has at different times been made by IMI (Israel), Lovex (Czech Republic), I think at one time it may have even been made in China. Needless to say, it never gained any reputation for consistency or accuracy.

Western Powders bought the Accurate line sometime in the early 2000's, and since 2009 Accurate 4350 has been made in Canada by General Dynamics (the IMR plant). It is essentially IMR4350 short cut.

There are lots of powders that work well with the 06. Just look at the data and pick one that you have, or have access to. Easy caliber to reload.

View attachment 1041800 Rl22 with 180 partition measures .51 outside to outside, subtract bullet diameter gives me .21 if my math is right
Have a great load, just wanting to play with something else.
Partitions G1 bc is .474, where as eldx is .545. Thinking a good charge of Rl 26 could be fun.
I have imr 4831, H4350" hard to come by" H414 to slow! Rl 17,19,22,& 26.
Also have varget and superformance im gonna try.
I find it cheaper to play with loads than buy a new rifle, I get kinda bored once I get them shootin.
Other reason is eldx's are 100 pcs 39 bucks partition 38 bucks for 50.

Look at Shooter's Pro Shop for some Partition seconds, if you want to shoot a bit cheaper.

So i googled some load info. Thread off nosler forum had some QL data for Rl26. Fella was running 62+ gr. 180 partition rt at 2900fps with good accuracy. Coal 3.340
So I worked up 4 loads starting @ 59gr up to 60.5gr for starters with hormady 178eldx.
Also did some loads with Rl22 @59.5-60.5
My jam length was 3.4445, coal 3.400
So come hell or high water I'll be going to the range in the morning." Unless mama says no"
I'll be taking chronograph to keep an eye on things, will post some results.

The results will be interesting. I am a real fan of Re 26.

There is usually one of two priorities on the powder choice for a given cartridge and bullet; highest velocity or best accuracy. Seldom does a given powder do both.
