I don’t know. The fuel shutoff knob vibrated loose and dropped to the floor thr first time I used the Honda. Luckily I found it. Blue locktite hopefully has taken care of the problem. I hate the CO shut off sensor.

The small multi-branded inverter gens are mostly the same underneath the hood.

I've spent over 10 years around the baseball fields in SEGA/NEFL where inverter gens are very common, trying to keep the baseball moms cool while they scream at the umps for ringing Little Johnny up on third strikes. I can't say that I've ever heard anyone complain about the off-brands, and I've never noticed any difference in their loudness.

I believe that Generac is built in the US...may not be the whole line.

I have an 8K Generac that has worked perfectly and has gotten us through several hurricane-related outages. It is electric start, but the battery failed and I've never bothered to replace it. I keep Stabil in it, and run the carb dry when putting it away. I gas it up, and it starts on the second or third pull after months of storage.

I dragged the Generac out of storage for the recent passing through of Idalia. It started on the 4th pull. Fortunately, our power flickered a couple of times but didn't stay off. Our neighbors were so fortunate, and it took them several days to get power. My SIL still didn't have internet as of Wednesday.

I am pleased with my Champion 3500 dual fuel inverter, run it only on propane. It’s very quiet and weighing a bit less than 100 pounds I can place it in the back of a pickup.

We have had a Harbor Frt inverter for about 4 years. At least as quiet as a Honda and still starts on the first pull. I do keep fuel stabilizer in it and run it a little about every 2-3 months.

Project Farm on YouTube has tested generators. His reviews are very thorough. If he recommends it, it’s probably worth looking at.

Some of the solar charged generators look really good too. Most of our power needs are small in a power outage. I just need the freezer and fridge to stay cold and to charge our phones.

Dirty power can damage appliances though. Seeing the readout on an oscilloscope shows a pretty big difference between generators.

I have a Champion 2500 watt suitcase generator. I run it like I stole it and it keeps chugging along.

Also have a 240v inverter generator from GenMax to run the whole house.. Time will tell, but the price was right.

That would run a 240 volt 30 amp load for < 1 hr. Or you could run 1 120 volt 1500 watt space heater for 4 hrs. Better have another fossil fuel generator around to charge it or hope the power comes back on quickly.

Yup. battery isn't perfect. However, my house without major appliances running (AC / dryer) only uses a couple hundred watts. More than anything it's nice to have a silent way to power lights / internet without having a generator idling all day/night.

Also yes... I charge them with the generator if the sun isn't out.

I bought two monocrystalline solar panels for my RV. I guess I can use it in case of a blackout, for example. So, I decided not to buy a portable generator, at least this year. Life will show what we will need. I think even if there are no power outages, the solar panels won't become unnecessary things

Lean to the buy once cry once mind set when buying a Generator....what are you protecting and its worth to you should drive your purchase. Honda has been the go to for a long time and I would consider the duel fuel units....you dont want to be down because one fuel isnt available. I live in Miramar Beach Florida and I own 2 portable Generators converted to duel fuel both 5000w (one is a Honda) I never know how long I may be with out power. I can run almost run everything with these. I am changing to Mini split AC systems in the house to better manage load. Where I am located I might return to where I live and find nothing left so the whole house "Generac" is way out of my things to pick and I was a Generac Tech.

Last year after an outage, not too cold outside, I got a Champion 6500/8125W dual fuel genny. It will do the whole house except the electric furnace and heat pump. We have a wood fireplace in the basement.

Used the genny a couple of times now, the longest being 4 hrs.

Had a Generlink installed. Worth the money.

We haven't had an extended power outage in several years. So, my 1000KW generator is just insurance. I bought a Westinghouse < $700.00. Have it full of no ethanol treated gasoline and 250 gallons of propane, it doesn't get old. I store it in the garage and start it every couple of months. Takes 10 minutes to set up and It will run the whole house, minus the heat pump, hot water tank and dryer. It will run my stick welder. A Genset just sits there, it's not portable.

I am more concerned about grid failure and if that happens, we are at the mercy on fuel availability.

Some of the generators produce very dirty electricity and will burn up your modems, computers, perhaps high end TV's. You want an inverter generator that produces a clean sine wave for use on high end electronics.

Sine wave on Honda is better than Predator, but the predator is good enough.

Grid failure is coming. I am concerned about my 3 freezers and side by side frig/freezer. All the electric vehicles are a recipe for disaster, like being on a run away bullet train!
