I bought a PTG bolt for a Model Seven. By the time I got it in a usable condition, I had over $500 in it.Midway sells ptg bolts. Last ones I got needed a lot of fitting.
If it were me this is what I would do ^^^^id put the money towards a new custom action instead of putting it into a factory action
Appreciate your advice but I have a completed rifle with a trued action. I screwed the bolt up trying to improve it. The rifle is worth more than the cost of a new bolt.If it were me this is what I would do ^^^^
I will. I'm gonna make another run at fixing the one I have but I don't have a lot of faith.I understand Pete, hope you let us know what you decide and maybe a photo of your build.
Send your bolt to Bolt Fluter I'm sure he can fix you up.Appreciate your advice but I have a completed rifle with a trued action. I screwed the bolt up trying to improve it. The rifle is worth more than the cost of a new bolt.
What exactly was screwed up?I screwed the bolt up trying to improve it.
You don't list which bolt face. But I see quite a few sell on this forum. You might list a WTB and find one.Any advice as to where to buy one?
Thanks for this.I did a 308 project on a new Remington RR action, I bought a standard size PTG replacement from Carlsbad and did nothing but stick it in the rifle and shoot it.
works great.View attachment 1519484
The hole the Sako extractor nub rides in and the Ejector hole is not in the correct position. I don't weld and doubt anyone would want to fill that hole in and re-drill it but don't know for sure. What exactly was screwed up?
